We are so glad we chose Sirmione as our first destination on our 3 week Italian holiday from Australia. I chose Hotel Serenella due to its location, good pricing and is previous reviews. We were very happy with our choice. We arrived early and they were happy to hold our luggage while we had a very generous prosecco and lunch in their pretty courtyard. It was a little cool and rainy so we didn't use the pool, though a few people did. The room and bed was very comfortable with a cute balcony and the bathroom well appointed. Breakfast was great with lots of options and they are very conscious of waste and the environment. This family run hotel is in a quiet location though in easy walking distance to restaurants and the ferry. Their cute little private dock at the end of the street was a lovely place to relax on sun lounges over the water! It was a bit of a walk with our luggage to the hotel that we weren't aware of so we would recommend arranging transfers with them to and from with at least 24hrs notice as there are only a few cars allowed within the area of Sirmione.

On a narrow peninsula protruding into Lake Garda, Sirmione is a wonderful town famed for its multi-turreted castle, Roman remains and hot springs.
The 13th-century lakeside castle makes quite an impressive sight as you cross its drawbridge to enter the old town beyond. From its walls there are lovely views across red-roofed buildings towards the trees hiding the ruins of a huge villa that belonged to 1st century BC Roman poet Catullus. Part of the complex included baths benefitting from the thermal waters, and the town still has a spa today on the opposite side of the promontory.
Nearby is the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with its 15th-century frescoes, and the surrounding narrow, cobbled streets are home to stone buildings and several Sirmione hotels on Lake Garda. The majority of hotels are mid-range, but there are still a few 4 and 5-star hotels in Sirmione to choose from.
Booking.com also has lots of accommodation by the lake in the newer part of town, and its Lugana Vecchia area has a UNESCO World Heritage-listed prehistoric site.
To the west of Sirmione is the lakefront town of Desenzano del Garda, while to the east is Peschiera del Garda, close to the Gardaland and Canevaworld theme parks. The nearest airport is Verona Catullo Airport to the south-east.

Loved the traffic free streets and away from the shops and restaurants the old tranquil and beautiful Sirmione could easily be found. All around the peninsular glorious views of Lake Garda could be enjoyed. The small boat trip around the peninsular was a particular highlight.
Be sure to research parking before arrival as no cars are allowed into Sirmione old town but parking provision is close

Sirmione was everyone's recommendation for where to stay on...
Sirmione was everyone's recommendation for where to stay on Lake Garda and it surpassed expectations. A friend recommended staying in the Centro Storico and I'm so glad we knew this before booking. A lot of hotels are outside of the old town, some quite a walk away from the heart of the town. It's a very very long stretch of road with hotels for miles before the motorway. These hotels are probably more spacious, but I personally would choose a small hotel in the centre.
The Centro Historico is stunning- like something from a medieval fairytale. A lot of tourists come on day trips from other towns, so the afternoons are quite busy then then things quiet down in the evenings. A lot of the restaurants are quite touristy and more about the location than fantastic food, but we were able to find some amazing restaurants with a bit of research.
We stayed in Sirmione in mid-September and unfortunately we were not lucky with the weather. As it is a small lakeside town, not being able to enjoy the beach or sunbathing limited some of the activities. A week not in pique-season was perhaps a day or two too long, but in June? I'd have stayed two weeks!
Things like the sunset boat tours are finished by this time of the year, for example, and the bars and restaurants close earlier. (on a particularly rainy night, we had trouble finding anywhere open past about 9 p.m.) I would absolutely stay in Sirmione again, but May to late August would be my window in future so as to fully appreciate the town.
Sirmione is small and quaint, so if you like a more busy city, Verona is about 40/60 mins away and there's buses and trains to Lake Garda towns for day trips- just double check with staff the last bus time because once they stop it's a hundred euro taxi fare back (don't ask how I know that). We didn't do a day trip to Peschiera, but it's quite close and a lot of other tourists we met couldn't recommend it enough.

The property was very beautiful. We chose a garden room and it was just unbelievably scenic and we enjoyed our time there. Our host was just the sweetest lady, she left us snacks and enough coffee to last us until the next morning. She spoke little English but her kindness was like nowhere else we stayed in Italy. And because of that Lake Garda will always be close to my heart.
Staff here are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms look recent and well decorated. The hotel is modern and has more than enough spacious parking. It's near the lovely town of Sirmione and a good base to visit multiple Lake Garda sights. A pool looks to being build. The restaurant offers decent food. It's certainly a nice place to stay!
Hotel Corte Regina was right in the heart of Sirmione with coblestone roads, quaint restaurant, and lots of shops and gelato everywhere. I fell in love with this beautiful little town on Lake Garda.
Great service, perfect location for a”star” trip in the Garda lake,Sirmione is beautiful and the hotel location is very quiet, also parking was easy to find.
