Surrounded by rolling hills and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!
Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic center. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.
The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodations deals on Booking.com!

This was a great location for visiting Siena and the local region. Although on a bus route the buses aren’t very frequent so it is certainly easier with a car. Parking available at the property. Good restaurant next door - but sadly not at all good for vegetarians!
The monastery on top of the hill is a must - we had a drink up there in the bar - but the food in the restaurant looked great too and was reasonably priced.
A great base for visiting Tuscany.

Beautiful city with interesting sights, but they have to do a lot more if they want to accommodate this number of tourists (especially to create or control the taxi service which is absolutely unprofessional and unreliable).

This was our most liked stop in our almost three week trip...
This was our most liked stop in our almost three week trip to Italy. The property and staff was amazing and they were able to recommend restaurants, arrange taxi service and especially the wine tour to the Mazzie Winery in Fonterutoli. The property was top notch, clean, quiet and would highly recommend if you are staying in Siena.
This was probably the most "hotel-like" accommodations we had while we were in Italy. I actually liked that it was a 10 min walk away from the main area/Piazza Campo. And we wouldn't have found Osteria di Nonna if we didn't stay there (which was probably our favorite meal in Siena). The dining terrace on the 7th floor had wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside. We actually had dinner there, and the food quality was quite good.
The staff were all super friendly and courteous.
The close proximity to the main sights and the 15min walk to the main bus station was fantastic. We reached Siena from Florence using the 131R bus.
The hotel does not have an 'obvious' entrance door and can easily be missed in the dark. The welcome we received was amazing and so was the room facing the garden. We would definitely return despite the hotel not having a 24hour reception ( if you need anything you can contact staff via WhatsApp which is really useful and quick!)
Alma Domus was conveniently located next to the Basilica of St. Catherine of Siena (aka St. Dominic) which was the main reason I came to Siena. The hotel was in a quiet location. I had a quiet room with air conditioning & a great view of the city of Siena & the Duomo Dome from my window. Breakfast was great with lots of selection: fruit, yogurt, pastries, sliced ham & cheese, etc. Alma Domus is located a 6-7 minute walk from the bus stop @ Piazza Gramsci.
We loved our stay at Hotel Garden. The patio/bar was amazing with excellent service, beautiful views, and lots of climbing plants. The staff was very helpful and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and the reception sells cheap bus tickets from their hotel to the city center. The hotel could be upgraded/refreshed a bit, but in my opinion it added to the charm in this historic city. Would 100% stay here again if I came back to Siena.
You could not pick a better location to stay in Siena. Within an easy walk (relatively flat) to the major attractions plus handy to the bus station and supermarket. Spacious and well appointed apartment and staying for a week the washing and cooking facilities were a real bonus. Nicolo gave us some great restaurant recommendations, make sure you try out Taverna De Cecco so far the best we have experienced in Italy (make sure you book).
We were a cycling group and this was a fantastic place to finish our trip. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Siena and this one is my favorite. The staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating. They offered safe storage for bikes and made sure we had a taxi to the train station as it’s a bit far to walk with luggage. The location is great. In a quiet neighborhood just behind the Piazza del Campo. Look forward to coming back!
My wife and I got an exceptional level of service, from the guidance to reach the hotel from Porta Romana, to a detailed brief on what was worth seeing inside the walls and how to « get lost » in Tuscany ( Pianza,…). À high level of attention also at breakfast time from the team. needless to say, to have such a view ( it is really as beautiful as the picture) while being so close to city center is a big additional plus !
The location was perfect for us since we were able to park just outside the ZTL and walk with our luggage to the hotel. It was a medium-length walk, but easily doable for those with moderate fitness and ability. It's right next to the Palazzo Pubblico and some really great restaurants. I would happily stay there again if I return to Siena. (note that the property may be unsuitable for those who have trouble with stairs).
It was located close to area of Siena we wanted to visit daily. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They gave great advice on places to eat, and things to see. They helped order taxis and help with us learn certain words in Italian. The rooms and property were clean. The view from the room was beautiful. There was a nice area to sit and relax as you entered the hotel.
Great location right near the antiporto from the station and easy walking distance to the historic walled town. Fantastic buffet breakfast. Lovely spacious room with comfortable bed, great air conditioning and nice views. Also able to use their sister hotel pool which was wonderful during the heatwave Siena was experiencing.
The location was good for getting to Siena, rooms were clean, quiet and dark (window shutters). Lovely grounds surrounding the hotel. The cleaning staff was very caring and attentive, easy check-in at arrival. The room had a kettle which is unusual in Italian hotels, as well as a fridge. We slept well in this place.
A stunning building located really close to Siena. The staff were absolutely incredible. So friendly and welcoming. The food was exquisite, in particular the tasting menus. This stay was one of the highlights of our time in Italy and I would recommend anyone reading this not to hesitate in booking.
Everything was perfect. We had a lot of space in our apartment. There were all necessary things in the kitchen. Air condition worked well. We arrived by car and didn’t have problems with parking. Next to the hotel locate the bus stop and you can easy to get to the center of Siena.
The hotel is well positioned with private parking, and Siena is within walking distance (20 minutes). Breakfast was one of the best I had in Italy, some of the food was even prepared by the host. There was also a possibility of using a fridge in the hallway.
Perfect hotel for Siena. Nice rooms, great staff, wonderful breakfast. Hotel is 2 km from Siena but you can park at the train station - €2 for 24hours and a quick trip up the escalators and you’re inside Siena. It was so easy and convenient!
Perfect location in the centre of Siena. The staff were so helpful and friendly. It is a beautiful boutique hotel with a lovely homely feel. Breakfast was good value for money and beautifully presented. Loved it
Excellent breakfast! In my experience the breakfast at smaller hotels in Italy is very modest, but here it is really good! Several types of bread, cereals, juices, fresh fruit and nuts. And the cakes!
The location is amazing, the staff was wonderful with helping us park our car in their garage, and the breakfast was superior compared to other hotels we've stayed at in Italy. Wonderful!
the view from the terrace is amazing!!! Siena at your feet. get a glass of wine at sunset and relax on the terrace- our top Italy experience. Eugenia was very helpful and friendly!
