The hotel staff were awesome. Kudos to Antonella, Sarah and others for representing Ibis so well. Breakfast was very good, with a lot of variety. Location is really good for exploring the city center area. The front desk recommended a car service that was fantastic. We used them daily and never any issues. Ask reception to provide you with contact info for Silvio’s car service. You won’t be disappointed with the vehicles, drivers or the price!

After 2 weeks in Sicily, this was our final night and we decided to "splurge" on what we thought was a Luxury Boutique Hotel. Upon arrival the woman at reception was helpful, offering water and a map. When we went up to our room I was certain we were given the wrong room. We had booked a "triple" room which was shown as having 2 separate sleeping areas/beds. The room we arrived to had only 1 bed and didn't look anything like what I booked. The woman at reception was able to have another bed added to the room without any hesitation which we appreciated. Another employee was very kind and made sure we had breakfast before our 6am hotel departure.

Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.
Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theatre, and opposite is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archaeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.
Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.
Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, a crossroads with a fountain at each corner.
Other attractions include round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodation.

There is a lot to see and do in Palermo, and when you think you don’t want to see another church or museum, just wander through the city and soak in the atmosphere - there’s great street art to see as you meander through the backstreets and lanes, and several wonderful markets to explore, or a beach (Mondello) to spend a lazy morning or afternoon. And within easy reach by train or bus there is Cefalu (lovely in its own right) or the jaw-dropping wonders of Monreale. I’ve been twice - the first time for 4 days, the second time for 11 days, and I’m sure there’s still more to do when I go back!

Palermo is a city of contrasts.
Palermo is a city of contrasts. It sounds trite, but it is true. Beautiful city centre and ugly suburbs. Magnificent palaces and piles of rubbish stuck next to architectural gems. Reliable bus and rail connections and endless car queues. Cheerful and cute Palermitani and constant challenges at pedestrian crossings. And a great kitchen.
It was rich, and probably too rich to resist. It has potential.
Palermo is a must.

Palermo is a great city, but it is just that...........a BIG city. Be aware of transactions. Palermo taxi drivers are notorious for being dishonest. NEVER take your eyes off of the meter in a cab. When you are distracted, drivers will "tap" the meter, causing the fare to increase. When shopping, always know in advance what you should be paying before you actually pay. Overall though, it's a fascinating place to get exposure to all the wonderful things Sicily has to offer.

Our day began with a 5 1/2 drive from Tropea including a 20 minute ferry ride. It was actually a really a beautiful drive that varied from hugging the hills along the coast to long periods of tunnels powered through mountains. Upon arriving in Palermo I noticed that my fellow drivers disregarded the lanes and worked their way through spaces in traffic. Motorini buzzed by on sides, but overall I felt quite comfortable behind the wheel there. The town has a special character that’s hard to describe, and there is an attitude in the locals I wish I embodied. They did themselves, and seemed to not care what others thought or said. My favorite things were the Antiques and Palazzo Federico. If I come back in my next life I want to be Nicolò Federico the son of the “Flying Count” who also was our guide to his home. A definite must go. The tour left my wife and I in awe, especially as Nicolò pointed out the Italian Flag displayed on the wall which had blood stains from battles during the unification of Italy under Garibaldi. Please, please check it out it’s only an hour. The further South in Italy I travel the more splendor of this special country, people, and culture.

Went visited with our 4 children and had a wonderful time in this busy city! Lots to do, even managing to appease teenagers with the gelato! We went to Mondello beach for one day - the bus there was extremely busy and we just got a taxi back as the buses essentially never come for the return, but it was a lovely beach and we all had lots of fun! I would recommend, lots to see/do/eat but not exactly for people wanting a quiet getaway!

Very busy city. Historical sights interesting.
Very busy city. Historical sights interesting. Traffic chaotic! Unfortunately absolutely filthy with lots of rubbish dumped on the roads and footpaths. People seemed rude. Terrible service at restaurants. Mondello beach area is a dump really. However, the water looked beautiful. Will not be going back.
The location is fantastic, the hosts were incredibly helpful and the place is absolutely spotless and more like a boutique hotel stay than an air bnb.
Carpe Diem is brand new and the decor has been done tastefully, with high quality and attention to detail.
We have travelled extensively and this is a true find- the best bnb we have ever stayed at.
Ariana took our breakfast requests in advance and showed up with warm croissants and homemade cappuccino each morning along with fruit, yogurt, juices and more! An absolutely outstanding stay!
Perfectly located among the best areas of Palermo. Quiet building and street (except for when someone's car alarm went off multiple times through the night). The host communicated wonderfully and received us after a long flight and bus ride and walk. The walk from the bus station is not bad, maybe 10 minutes. She has a lovely common area with tea and little snacks and treats that was wonderful. Love the view out our window too. The hot water and shower was by far the best we've had on our travels in Italy. Definitely very clean too!
Lovely boutique hotel in the middle of Palermo. The staff were wonderful and breakfast was perfect. We had a market tour and cooking class with Carlo, the hotel chef, and it was the best we have ever experienced. Linda provided the translation and helped us tremendously.
We parked our car in a garage about 1 mile from the hotel for our two night stay and walked everywhere. Definitely the way to do it!
The hotel was very clean and housekeeping did a wonderful job.
Thank you for a wonderful stay in Palermo!
The apartment was cute and modern, and super clean. Was also very good value for money in Palermo and Marco the host was so lovely. We had our 4 month baby with us and he went out of his way to secure a travel cot for us and make sure we were comfortable. Was also very grateful for good air con! He also left us a lovely welcome basket of Sicilian goodies and made us feel very welcome. Marco also recommended us the best Pizza we had whilst in Sicily! Thank you Marco!
Giovanni is an incredible host. He took me sightseeing twice.! I did stay two weeks, but he is above and beyond an ambassador for Palermo and Sicily!
The first time he contacted me to go places, I thought he had hit the wrong contact in his phone! His response was, "No, that is how we are here: Welcoming...."
If you stay at Don Giovanni's, maybe: buy bread from the man on the street, meat at local meat cutter's, and veggies at the B Market--live like an Italian!
location was central and room was very nice, spacious, quiet and comfortable. but best, I have to say the best staff on our one month trip to Sicily. so warm, went out of way to help with travel questions, served super good Italian breakfast with changes every day. All the staff were great and hotel is very nice, yet feels homey. have garden with big mosaic, have a bar for happy hour. near Teatro Massimo( we walked to concert).
It was a really nice place to be, very central and right by the beach. There were good shopping options nearby, it was especially nice to have a baker nearby. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and she helped us a lot. She knew a lot about the area and Sicily and gave lots of good advice. So we would definitely recommend staying in this apartment if you are visiting Palermo.
Location, location, location!
The hotel is meters away from Palermo main attractions, just next to the best ever granita in Palermo , yet in a small road that allows it to be very quiet.
Super spacious and clean room with a huge toilet.
The owner was also extremely helpful in arranging transfer to the airport for us.
Location was the best. It was only 20 metres from the maim street. Plus 300m from the Teatro Massimo. Breakfast was okay and was what was expected. We slept okay but the mattress could have been thicker. However, it higher star rated hotels we were in the beds were not any better. It must be standard in Sicily.
The hotel was a first class experience from the moment you stepped in the lobby. The design was very classy and the staff so friendly.
I strongly recommend Lumia Restaurant. Food was outstanding as you'd expect that from a 6 star facility. Definitely pleased to have stayed at Casa Nostra Boutique in Palermo.
Modern and comfortable apartment right next to the Palermo Train + Bus Station. Very convenient for any train or bus travel to other parts of Sicily or to and from the airport. 10-15 minute walk to the main tourist sites and busy restaurant and nightlife areas of Palermo.
Very friendly, helpful staff with nice advice on what to do in Palermo and other parts of Sicily.
Great location within walking distance of the main attractions.
Nice big room with a good bed.
The hotel is located in a safe, quiet neighborhood.
The hosts were very welcoming, they allowed us to check in a little early because the room was ready and they recommended the best places to see in Palermo and in the rest of Sicily plus explained us some fun facts and history of Sicily.
The house and gardens were beautiful and well looked after. Monica was a very attentive and helpful host. Breakfast was very good. Proximity to the airport and great for exploring Palermo and the west of Sicily.
staff was excellent! I was in Italy for a week and I think the hotel staff at Porta do Castro was by far the best. hospitality is excellent. the breakfast is generous and the food keeps coming and coming
Everything is perfect, location close to main attractions. clean and comfortable. Breakfast is the best in Sicily (Maybe in Italy) and definitely the best hostess Mariella .
The hosts were the best! We talked for hours about Sicily and our lives. The property is perfect, in the most center location of Palermo. Highly recommend this stay!
The room was very clean and big. The shower is big ( some hotels in Sicily have a very small shower). For breakfast we had an omelette which was delicious.
