Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic centre. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.
Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.
For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

I hadn’t been to Florence in over a decade. Our trip was end September and I couldn’t believe how crowded this beautiful city has become.
Plan in advance for anything! Show up early because there will be huge lineups for anything.
Any ticket you buy will actually be a “voucher” for an actual ticket that you have to go to a ticket office to redeem. These ticket offices are well hidden with little signage identifying them. Go the day before to scout everything out if possible.
There were over 1,000 people in the line-up for the Duomo yesterday. Same for the Uffizi even though it’s timed entry.
Visit this city’s attractions on a Tuesday or Wednesday in Sept/Oct/Nov for reduced crowds.

The most beautiful Renaissance city, full of history and charm, with great food everywhere. Michelangelo’s David is a must-see. Leather goods are the best in the world, buttery soft and stylishly designed.

Florence has many attractions BUT all of these are reduced in their appeal and enjoyment by the huge crowds of tourists. (We went in late September). At times it’s difficult to walk down the pavement, let alone access the attractions.
The attractions are overpriced, crowded and the queues ridiculous. Even the ‘skip the line’ queue at the Duomo was long. Don’t even bother going inside as the Duomo is much more beautiful externally than internally.
I wouldn’t go back to Florence, unlike other cities I’ve visited.

So much to see and savour.
So much to see and savour. The museums have more artifacts than anywhere I have been especially the Uffizi. The climb up the Duomo was so worth it (460 steps!). Get a trip out to San Gimignano - medieval town. One of the most beautiful and iconic Tuscany locations. You MUST pre book tickets for the popular locations or you will miss out or queue for very long times. So many places to eat. Find a back street Trattoria or Osteria for traditional non expensive quality food.

Great city, so much live.
Great city, so much live. Easy to travel using the train system or simply by foot. We had a wonderful steak at the Auditore Ristorante Braceria. Recommend using the app the Fork with a lot of suggestions and discount.
Staff was perfectly efficient. It was very calm at night. No drunken shouting in the corridors, although the hostel was full. It was my first experience in a hostel. Mattress was hard orthopaedic - just how j like it for my back.I had a private room similar to the hotel. And I liked my stay.
Breakfast was an extra 9 eur. But it was a good buffet. Scrumble omlet was nice to have before exploring Florence. Not in each 3-star hotel you can get it in Italy.
Check out is at 10.00. But you can use luggage room for 3 eur per day. Convenient.
The best apartments in Palazzo in Italy!! Everything is carefully thought out: check-in, reinforced entrance doors, everything you need in the apartment, high-quality furniture, equipment, appliances, orthopedic pillows and bed, pleasant little things! Early check-in and late check-out! The owner was always in touch! The most comfortable stay! Living in such apartments in the Palazzo in Florence is the best vacation!! I recommend! Thanks a lot!
I only stayed one night and it was my greatest experience in Italy in terms of accommodation. Great localization, right across the river, short walk from many landmarks, room was very clean, and most importantly the staff was friendly and welcoming - particularly Eduina, who was not only very helpful in anything related to the hotel, but also advised me on the next parts of my trip after Florence.
Breakfast was amazing! The room was also very clean and comfy. I loved pretty much everything about the place. The hosts were exceptional and very polite. They provided us with recommendations and answered our messages very promptly. It was the best hotel experience in Italy this time. The location is also amazing, you'll be right in the city center.
I was traveling by car and I chose this place for the parking place (which was good, and apparently a rare thing in Florence or Italy in general), and location (15 minutes walk to the city center).
