The amazing location of Hotel Skaftafell provides guests with stunning views of Iceland's highest mountain, Hvannadalshnjukur and the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull.

Meals are very generous and the staff were happy to let us share a main course. It was more than enough for two. Walking to the start of the glacier was great. Very close to the start.
The Potato Storage is offering accommodation in Svínafell, with free WiFi and free private parking. All guest rooms in the motel are fitted with a kettle.

Lovely owner who met us on arrival. The apartment was set in a beautiful location and was very convenient for visiting the Skaftafell area. The apartment was very tastefully designed and was spotlessly clean. The equipment provided was excellent and you could tell that a lot of thought had gone into it. We especially loved the peace and quiet. Would highly recommend a stay here.
Klettasel is a recently renovated villa in Hof, where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge. The property has pool and garden views, and is 38 km from Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.

The staff was absolutely fantastic and the food was even better than expected. Incredible value for the money.

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
The hotel is very close to one of the main glaciers in Iceland, so it is a great option, if not the only one, if doing some tours around.
The facilities were great. The room had a good size and the bathroom was clean.
Continental breakfast included in the room rate. Probably, it was the best I had during my stay in Iceland.
The staff is just outstanding.
There is a smaller galcier at the back of the hotel, with several trails to explore the area.
A restaurant, gas station and its shop across the road.
Due to the weather the staff had to advise us on possible road closures. We had to get up early and leave ahead of the possible road closure. The hotel was very helpful in providing breakfast at 5 a.m. for everyone who wanted to leave early to avoid getting stuck due to the possible road closure due to wind and snow. This was a stressful situation but the hotel night clerk was very friendly and helpful, making it all feel less tense. The rooms were nothing fancy but they were clean and functional.
Location is outstanding, with a good trail leading directly from the hotel to Svinafell Glacier (15 minutes walking time). It is especially gorgeous in late afternoon sunlight. Very nice that there was a less expensive restaurant option across the road. Really glad we spent 2 nights here. Had a great tour at nearby Ingolfshofdi on the day we left Hotel Skaftafell. Hotel staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable, though a bit small.
Breakfast was lovely. The location is amazing. We went for a spontaneous walk and found a glacier tongue just behind the hotel. It is signposted and wort the small hike. We saw the northern lights as this and the garage over the road is the only building for miles. The beds were comfy and rooms warm.
The property was clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel was a very short distance from the ice glaciers and we walked for 2 hours to see them up close. We went for dinner at night and food was delicious. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was really good with a variety of choices.
The hotel was excellent with very friendly staff. It is ideally located to do excursions such as the ice caves. It also has nice hiking areas to the rear leading to nearby glaciers. The restaurant and bar were extremely good and the buffet breakfast with some hot food available was very good.
The property is well situated between Vik and Hoffn with easy access to the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach amongst other landmarks. The walks to the rear of the hotel itself give stunning views of glacial landscape.
The rooms were modern, bathroom facilities were good and very clean.
Great location. Staff great - friendly and helpful. Restaurant on site. food great - delicious and perfect presentation. Breakfast included in room price had a lot of variety and delicious selections. Very clean. Convenient and quiet room location at the end of the hall.
location is right between skaftafell national park and the jokusarlon lagoon which makes it the best in these parts, just across the hotel there is also a gas station for refuelling. there is also a trail right behind the hotel where you can view the glacier upclose!
This place has such a friendly staff and who could engage in conversation the area. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast buffet before we left. There’s an awesome hike behind the hotel that is worth the hour walk. Near Svartifoss (waterfall)
Loved the hike to the glacier tongues and glacier lagoon in back of the hotel. Beautiful hike. Triple room was roomy. Very clean and friendly staff. Good location, right off Ring Road.
This hotel sits in front of a glacier. The room was spacious. It includes a buffet breakfast. Lovely staff. Amazing location near the various glacier activities and hikes.
American mom and daughter. Very quiet. Immaculate. Breakfast buffet great. Setting was beyond picturesque. Short hike hotel to see glaciers was unbelievably beautiful.
Perfectly fine hotel when passing through and wanting to spend some time in Skaftafell. We had rooms in de back part which were in a quiet location. Comfortable beds.
Breakfast was plentiful. Facilities were clean. They had a variety of places to sit and plenty of sanitizer. Staff offered us direction to glacier behind hotel.
