Very good location (close to glaciers). The breakfast was also very good.
Recommended place to stay if you have an activity near the glaciers.

The location is perfect and ideally located close to the glacier, easy access and yet secluded. Clean, functionable and well thought out layout. Owner is very responsive. We enjoyed the use of the terrace and the large windows to watch sunset and spot the northern lights from. Would definitely stay here again.

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
Skaftafell is quite isolated so it was great to have this place to stay. The restaurant menu was expensive but the fuel station across the road ran a diner with burgers and fish that was more reasonable. A great place to stay near the National Park. Great views out of the window in our room and at breakfast. Breakfast was better than most places with an eggs bacon and baked beans in addition to the usual cereals and toast.
Short review:
excellent breakfast, unbelievable location, fairly basic rooms, excellent shower and pressure, nice bar, ample parking, and behind the hotel at 1 km is the most amazing glacier that you can walk to from the hotel on a pre-cut path.
The service station is just across the road, and there is no alternative place to eat there. Food in a restaurant is fairly expensive, but really good.
Location was great, with the glacier and mountain just right behind the hotel. On a clear day, u will get an exceptionally great view. It was also very near to the Skaftafell terminal which was the meeting point for our glacier hike :)
Breakfast was great too, with a good selection (including the much appreciated range of plant-based milk!)
Gorgeous location, great food, friendly staff! And the hotel had a service where it offered to call guests in the night if any northern lights were spotted. Sure enough after we had fallen asleep, we got a wake up call a few hours later to see an incredible aurora display. Can’t say enough good things about this place!
Plenty of parking lots in front of the hotel, however it tends to get packed.
Breakfast is included, wide variety but not the best quality.
Has lobby/reception area which feels polished, and there is a bar located on the 2nd floor which closes at 11pm.
The breakfast was wonderful! There is a short hike to the glacier right behind the hotel. The front desk staff is excellent and caring! The restaurant for dinner is ok. There is a gas station with food for lunch across the street
Chose this hotel for location to sites we wanted to visit. Location was perfect. The hotel was well run, well maintained, clean. Staff was most courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. No other meals were taken there.
The staff is friendly, super helpful and accommodating. Location was perfect. Breakfast was great and the restaurant across the road has delicious dinners. Added bonus was the short hike to view the glacier from the hotel.
Great location close to the glacier and not to far from many of the glacial attractions (kayaking in glacier lagoon, glacier hiking/climbing). Dinner at the hotel was very tasty but quite pricy
The location was very convenient and the hiking trail behind the hotel was an unexpected pleasure - really nice walk to a glacier viewpoint. Food at the restaurant was tasty.
The hotel has a lovely view of the glaciers and was a 4 minute drive to the entrance of the national park. Good breakfast, which is included, and dinner was exceptional.
American mom and daughter. Very quiet. Immaculate. Breakfast buffet great. Setting was beyond picturesque. Short hike hotel to see glaciers was unbelievably beautiful.
