The location is incredible. The lake, the grounds, the amazing old trees and beautiful shrubs are just so peaceful. Our room in the Lake House was great. The bed was very comfortable, lovely shower, lots of filtered water provided. Our favourite part was the sauna. For €40 we had our own private sauna for 90 minutes, located right on the lake so you can go in and out for a cooling swim and then sit in the heat looking out at the idyllic lake. Breakfast was good and staff were helpful, professional and friendly. We will definitely be back.

It was great.
It was great. But unless you have "sat-nav", booking.com directions won't get you there. We were using an Eirecode finder on my phone but as we got close, internet service suddenly quit. We had to telephone.

Do visit the art centre and the heritage centre, which has a largeish display about the famine, though it rather conceals the background reasons for why people were so impoverished -- ie, hundreds of years of oppression of Catholics by England. But we both learned a lot. Lough Hyne, by comparison, is not such a big deal. It may be a marine reserve, but there's very little wildlife there. A good place for swimming, however. The Church restaurant is fairly good, but very expensive, like so many restaurants in Ireland (ie, compared with London)

Skibbereen is a surprising pleasure. lovely small but varied high street, worth a wander, with variety of shops. Local Fields worth dropping in for the local produce and cakes. Lovely dinner at The Church Restaurant. Famine museum was definitely worth a visit too. Nicely done- lots of info and presented in a style where you leave sobered but not depressed!

We loved the social life and made the most of the local pubs and restaurants. We especially liked the Church Restaurant and also had a couple of evenings in the Corner Pub.
The Saturday morning Farmers' Market was excellent, as was the range of cafes and boutique shops.
We enjoyed the Heritage Centre and the helpful genealogist helped me locate my living relatives in the town!
Within close proximity of the town are some lovely walks too.
The B&B was lovely and clean with handy fridge out on landing.
The breakfasts were absolutely beautiful.
The location is great, fantastic base for traveling around West Cork ;Castletownshend 5 minute drive, Skibbereen 10 minutes drive, Baltimore 25 minutes, Bantry 35 minutes, Glandore 20 minutes.
There’s a gorgeous beach 5 minute walk from the B&B.
The hosts Kathleen and John could not have been more welcoming and helpful during our stay!
Would definitely recommend ⭐️
We will be back no doubt to revisit!
Christine and Ken (and the kids) embody the authentic warm Irish welcome experience. I’m from the area and have been away for 30 years. To come back and stay in their apartment and be welcomed into their home for a proper Irish breakfast and chat was heart filling and a wonderful way to introduce my partner and son to the Irish way of life. For as long as they offer this bed and breakfast, I will be a repeat customer. 5 stars
The hosts are lovely, friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the towels were soft and fluffy. The house and gardens are beautiful and there is a lovely view. There is also a lounge area available for guests and space to park your car or motorbike. Breakfast was wonderful (better than the 4 star hotel we stayed at in Cork)! We were presented with a little home-baked birthday cake too!
Christine and her lovely family were the best hosts we could imagine. We will definitely come back the next time we come to Ireland. The cottage was very convenient and cosy. The area is absolutely beautiful and offers many opportunities for hiking, running and water sports nearby. We loved Heir Island, Cape Clear and Lough Hyne. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Great B&B, easy to find in a quiet location only a short drive from the centre of Skibbereen. The room was very comfy and had everything I need for my stay. Breakfast was lovely, there is a choice of cereal, fruit as well as a cooked breakfast. Marguerite is a lovely lady and a great host very welcoming and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again.
I only stayed for one night, as I had an appointment in the area. Having said that. I'd have been happy to stay for longer. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast items in the room meant I was completely independent. I had a good chat with the owner, who was very friendly and welcoming. All in all, a lovely experience.
We had a fantastic stay in Stone Barn, which was ideally located close to Skibbereen and Ballydehob. The hosts were so friendly and attentive and provided us with an absolutely delicious breakfast both mornings. The place was spotlessly clean and so comfortable, perfect for a break away. We would love to stay there again.
Marguerite was our favorite hostess during our trip. She was thoughtful, gave good suggestions for our time in the area, and the breakfast was delicious. She was very flexible when we changed our arrival time at the last minute to accommodate some schedule changes.
The property is absolutely stunning and Desi was so kind and chatty. It’s really near Skibbereen town and we stayed here primarily because we were doing night kayaking in Lough Hyne which is only about a 20 minute drive away. We are already tempted to book again!
We had a wonderful time at Atlantic House. Kathleen is a marvelous host and makes every effort to make her guests feel comfortable and welcome - she is also a wealth of information about the beautiful area she lives in
Beautiful hotel in fantastic location. All the staff made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Our room was superb and the bed really comfortable. Food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was excellent.
All buildings were very nice with a mix of classic and cheeky decor. Wonderful staff, view, rooms, lounging areas, and grounds. Dinner and breakfast were great.
