Terrific location in a gorgeous valley glen. Friendly sheep in the back yard. Peaceful, bucolic, and lots of bird song. Gary is a grand host. We spent one night but enjoyed the banter with Gary (and later his friend, Moriss). Gary is charming and convivial and extremely considerate. His coterie of friendly cats were fun and Luna happily slept much of the night on our bed. As a late-night treat, Gary cooked up some of his patented roast potatoes for us to snack on and very tasty they were. In the morning, he made each of us a tasty full Irish breakfast, coffee or tea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel has a beautiful location but I'm afraid to say it disappointed me for what was a 70th birthday gift to my mother. Starting with reception, we were met by the most unfriendly receptionist who had little to say in terms of a welcome or be of extra help. Similar can be said for her manner on checking out. Not a position for someone who has an attitude and is the first to meet and greet paying guests. The corridor floors to the bedroom were dirty and not vacuumed for the 2.5 days we were in the hotel. Bedroom was small, shabby and basic. Bathroom although renovated, will become run down if not cleaned thoroughly of soap scum and mould in the shower which are becoming evident. A cigarette butt was in the lift for 2 days. Cob webs were visible in the lobby and on corridors. On checking in at 3pm, the unfriendly receptionist advised when I asked, that there was no bar food being served until 5pm. When we returned at 7pm there was no table in the bar with the only alternative being the restaurant. Generally my experience of ECCLES is that is over rated, completely over priced and in dire need of an urgent face lift and a good deep clean. Credit to the young people in the breakfast room and restaurant who were cheerful and courteous and also kudos to the ladies in the Spa who are a breath of fresh air.

A lovely little town, with pubs and restaurants featuring excellent local seafood. The Bamboo Park is one of a kind in Ireland and well worth a visit. The Glengarriff Nature Reserve offers a variety of scenic and peaceful nature walks from the leisurely "River Walk" which is great for dogs as well all the way up to 4km longer hikes.

This hotel is in a very convenient place, for the many sights we wanted. Parking was easy which is always a bonus. We ate here on the second night my husband had duck he said it was truly great. My meal was faultless. We did not want breakfast, so we could get away for the day & have lunch on our travels.

Beautiful village with great pubs, music on the streets and good places to eat. A trip to Garnish Island is a must, a great experience. Fabulous country side around the Ring of Beara, Schull and right through West Cork. Only wish i had longer there.

Great private parking for two cars. Pauline, you were a wonderful host and we highly recommend your cottage. It is perfect for a family of four or two couples because of its two bathrooms. It’s a very beautiful house in the best location. It is in the town but a little bit off from the center which makes it better than being right in the center. Leo, the owner, is very kind and helpful. The house has been in his family, and he purchased it from his mother relatively recently. I can see his pride in the house: I had what I think a king size bed. After spending many nights on single beds in other B&B and hotels, it was so nice to have that large bed. The room was also spacious, and the breakfast was delicious!

River's Edge in Glengarriff was our favourite place during our Ireland trip! We loved the cute town with its breathtaking coastline. And we even more liked our host and his hospitality! We felt home the second we entered the house! The room was spacious, the bed very comnfortable and the towels fluffy. The breakfast was delicious and the backyard is a great place to relax. Also, we got great recommendations to explore the surroundings of Glengarriff. We really looking forward to return as soon as possible!

The location is a little beyond the town of Glengarriff, but I enjoyed the seclusion and the mountains surrounding it. I also enjoyed walking into town, since it is a beautiful walk. The breakfast was delicious! It is not included in the price, but you can order it for an extra cost. The host is an actual chef. Both Host and Hostess were friendly and accommodating and went above and beyond when I needed help with an issue.

This B&B is situated at the beginning of the beautiful Beara Peninsula in West Cork. It is a hillwalkers paradise, with views that stretch what seems like forever. The hosts are so welcoming, you feel right at home. Where The Black Sheep is, is a great base for touring all the Cork Peninsulas and also for doing The Iveragh Peninsula (The Ring of Kerry). The whole area is so peaceful. I would highly recommend this B&B.

Beautiful, comfortable and friendly space that was immaculate in every possible way. We are so glad we decided to stay at Glengarriff and #blessed that we found Leaba. Mo and Vinny took such great care of us and gave recommendations for the most amazing local spots for food and exploring. Mo is also the Queen of Breakfast and quiet possibly the best breakfast designer in the northern hemisphere.

First and foremost, the hosts are amazing people! I’d give 15 stars if I could. We just loved the property, the views, the comfortable and well appointed rooms and beds. The breakfasts were just the most incredible we’ve ever had. This was a great central location to explore West Cork peninsulas and the Ring of Kerry. You won’t find a better value.

What a great find. The accommodation is tucked away and feels remote but is only a couple of minutes from Glengarriff and a short ride off the Ring of Beara. Super clean and comfortable. Mary and Chris are lovely and so accommodating. Their breakfasts are superb. Best we had in Ireland. Highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back.

Jovanka and Alec are extremely welcoming and hospitable hosts. The Black Sheep is clean and comfortable, sits right on the bank of a beautiful river, and has the Glengarriff Nature Reserve as a backyard. Glengarriff itself is a charming little village, the surrounding area of the Beara peninsula is gorgeous!

We spent 5 days hill walking in the Beara peninsula. Glengarriff was a great base and Firhouse Holiday home was an ideal place to stay in Glengarriff. It had plenty room for a group of active people, a quiet location just outside the village and also in easy walking distance.
