The hotel has a beautiful location but I'm afraid to say it disappointed me for what was a 70th birthday gift to my mother. Starting with reception, we were met by the most unfriendly receptionist who had little to say in terms of a welcome or be of extra help. Similar can be said for her manner on checking out. Not a position for someone who has an attitude and is the first to meet and greet paying guests. The corridor floors to the bedroom were dirty and not vacuumed for the 2.5 days we were in the hotel. Bedroom was small, shabby and basic. Bathroom although renovated, will become run down if not cleaned thoroughly of soap scum and mould in the shower which are becoming evident. A cigarette butt was in the lift for 2 days. Cob webs were visible in the lobby and on corridors. On checking in at 3pm, the unfriendly receptionist advised when I asked, that there was no bar food being served until 5pm. When we returned at 7pm there was no table in the bar with the only alternative being the restaurant. Generally my experience of ECCLES is that is over rated, completely over priced and in dire need of an urgent face lift and a good deep clean. Credit to the young people in the breakfast room and restaurant who were cheerful and courteous and also kudos to the ladies in the Spa who are a breath of fresh air.

A lovely little town, with pubs and restaurants featuring excellent local seafood. The Bamboo Park is one of a kind in Ireland and well worth a visit. The Glengarriff Nature Reserve offers a variety of scenic and peaceful nature walks from the leisurely "River Walk" which is great for dogs as well all the way up to 4km longer hikes.

This hotel is in a very convenient place, for the many sights we wanted. Parking was easy which is always a bonus. We ate here on the second night my husband had duck he said it was truly great. My meal was faultless. We did not want breakfast, so we could get away for the day & have lunch on our travels.

Perfect place to explore East Kerry & West Cork. Best value, great price for this cosy home with a phantastic view over the bay. Much more beautiful than on the photo. Great private parking for two cars. Pauline, you were a wonderful host and we highly recommend your cottage. It is perfect for a family of four or two couples because of its two bathrooms. Exploring stunning Glengarrif was wonderful. Be asured we will come back (as well as our German friends). Greetings to your lovely family - we enjoyed our holiday at yours sooooo much !!!

It’s a very beautiful house in the best location. It is in the town but a little bit off from the center which makes it better than being right in the center. Leo, the owner, is very kind and helpful. The house has been in his family, and he purchased it from his mother relatively recently. I can see his pride in the house: I had what I think a king size bed. After spending many nights on single beds in other B&B and hotels, it was so nice to have that large bed. The room was also spacious, and the breakfast was delicious!

This is a beautiful family run hotel steeped in history. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable nestled in the middle of Glengarriff. All the staff were so helpful and very pleasant especially a young girl Ciara who served us dinner both nights of our stay. The food was delicious and the Al a Carte menu was changed each night. We also enjoyed a beautiful breakfast each morning and their fantastic freshly baked brown bread. We will definitely be back!!

Such a comfortable hotel with lots of charme and character. The rooms were wonderfully designed and must have been recently renovated with modern touches in the bed- and bathroom. The entrance hall and dining room were welcoming, elegant and invited you to stay for the evening. The Spa was one of the highlights, friendly staff and wonderful views over the sea from the hot tubs.

Chris and Mary couldn't have made us feel more at home and welcome into their home. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The breakfasts were delicious and fantastically cooked. The location was a perfect base to explore Glengarriff and the rest of the Beara peninsula.

Jovanka and Alec are extremely welcoming and hospitable hosts. The Black Sheep is clean and comfortable, sits right on the bank of a beautiful river, and has the Glengarriff Nature Reserve as a backyard. Glengarriff itself is a charming little village, the surrounding area of the Beara peninsula is gorgeous!

We spent 5 days hill walking in the Beara peninsula. Glengarriff was a great base and Firhouse Holiday home was an ideal place to stay in Glengarriff. It had plenty room for a group of active people, a quiet location just outside the village and also in easy walking distance.

Wonderful hosts in a beautiful region, deep in West Cork. Walking distance to a host of great pubs and restaurants. Very idyllic. So much calmer than Killarney, Dingle, Cork city.... it was just what I was looking for on Ireland’s "undiscovered peninsula".
