Academy Plaza Hotel, hotel in Castleknock

Just off O'Connell Street, Academy Plaza Hotel is a 5-minute walk from Connolly Train Station. The hotel boasts stylish, air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, an on-site restaurant.

This hotel is in a great location at the top end of O'Connell St just around the corner in a quiet street within easy walking distance to everything. The staff were great, mostly cheery and helpful. The room 'SUCKED', yes we chose the that sized room, but we have two 25kg bags, there was not enough space in the room to utilize the cases and move around safely, it would be dangerous for someone who was unsteady on their feet. The bed was nothing more than a glorified king single. The room was stuffy, if you opened the window you get the noise of the twenty or so air con units 'and its loud'. Why they build them like this astounds me as it is a common practice through England and Europe. If you turned the air con on and shut the window it was too cold. I would challenge the owners of the hotel to stay in room 336 for three nights and experience it themselves. For the price you pay for the room you could do a lot better elsewhere. The breakfast was adequate.

The Spencer Hotel, hotel in Castleknock

Overlooking the River Liffey, The Spencer Hotel is 10 minutes from the famous O'Connell Bridge and 20 minutes from the Temple Bar and Grafton Street.

My friend and I arrived at the hotel at 11am due to our flight times. We asked to leave our bags at the hotel while we explored the city and to our surprise the lady at the desk gave us our room. This was one of the highlights and very appreciated as check in time is usually 4pm and it was great to have a room this early. We were then able to use the spa early. The hotel is in a great location - a very quiet area on the weekends as it’s the business district, but only a short 15 min walk to the centre of Dublin where the shops are. Also only a 10 min walk to Connolly station.

    Castleknock is a nice place.

Castleknock is a nice place. Would be much nicer if we had the facilities we paid for. I would never stay there again. Couldn’t get to talk to management only receptionist. Fire alarm hanging from ceiling. I had guest of 20 people to have food and drinks. Couldn’t find anything else as it was a bank holiday.

Well the location is perfect .

Well the location is perfect . The reason I booked that hotel is because I'm from that area and eating many if there and ar that 12th lock for food and drinks . Many years ago so when booking accommodation and 12tth came up I booked it known about the facilities before I got the abd when I got there I was shocked for the price o paid. Close to 800 euro for 6 night . There was no facilities to make food or to buy a drink . Vending machine had condoms and lube . But the icing on the cake for me was went to reception and ask for some sugar and I was told there was none . I was only later that if had booked through the hotel I could of it fir €50/60 a night . I'm you will read this I feel I need some sort of companion for the poor surroundings and no facilities for me . Ps your staff where amazing.

Excellent value for money. This is a no "no frills" hotel.

Excellent value for money. This is a no "no frills" hotel. What do you expect for €70 per night? It was clean well maintained and had comfortable beds. Our room Had a double and a single bed so could easily have slept 3 people. It has good location just off the M50. a 20 minute drive to the city centre, very close to Pheonix Park for a morning stroll plenty of free parking. When We go places we have little interest in the hotel itself and just want a place to rest our heads so we don't need all the extra frills that we pay for in some hotels. This place suited our needs perfectly.

Great location, great transportation options, 30 minutes...

Great location, great transportation options, 30 minutes away from downtown using public bus, safe area at any time even night, quiet place. Reception staff need more hotel and service skills. Breakfast not included with room. Bathroom was ok, clean, nice. US standard hotel, this is good in comparison with the regular European standards for hostels and some hotels.

I did not stay their. After reaching the hotel I was not happy so I requested to see the room. The rooms r in the basement level. It didn’t have fresh air inside. It had some kind of smell/odour, so we cancelled the booking and without any fee which the hotel staff did oblige.
