Location, value, some of the people working there were helpful. offered me compensation when i highlighted issues and offered a new room. a spacious apartment in a good location 20-30 minutes walk from athlone town. buses close by. good customer service.
The ease of getting around the Town was amazing. Their Shopping Centre was class, one of the best I’ve seen, especially for a small Town, it had everything in it. There was a real buzz around the Town. Now I have to say that new Bridge from the Radisson Blu to the Old Town was amazing and so easy to get around. I was also able to get some lovely photos from the Bridge on both sides, a dream location for a novice Photographer. I will certainly be back with my Camera for more opportunities, which there are plenty of in Athlone.

Nice canal boat tours on the Shannon , and if lucky enough to see the army helicopter hovering before landing at med centre army base in centre of town .
Parking is right around town so choose wisely,

Athlone is a lovely place to go for a weekend away. It has many beautiful places and views. It has many yummy food options and restaurants. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a chill relaxing evening.

We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

Athlone is vibrant lovely and tourist friendly town with good hotels,bars,restaurants and tourist activities.I brought 12 Danish guys there for 24 hours during a five day tour of Ireland. They loved it.Boat trip,live music,poker tournament in hotel,few pubs.Great craic!

Our room had a lake view which was lovely but the staff were very young and seemed inexperienced service was very slow also the single mattress in our bedroom was uncomfortable and needed to be replaced

We had a very comfortable room and the breakfast buffet each morning was OK, although the cooked items could have been a bit hotter. The hotel location was close to the town centre and we did not need to use the car unless we wanted to travel out of town. The location of the hotel was integrated into the main shopping centre for the town, which was also very convenient. We had one meal in the hotel bar area and also ate out at two good restaurants in town. We did not use the leisure facilities during our stay.
This is my 2nd time to stay here, and I always enjoy staying here. There are always plenty of spaces in the car park upon arrival. The checking in process is simple. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The large TV in each room also has loads of TV channels to view. The staff are very polite and courteous, and it definitely beats other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. I will always stay here, whenever I am in Athlone.
Staff were helpful when we requested the beds be changed from double to twin. They advised that the request for twin beds wasn't received by the hotel. They also said they did not received the request for the rooms to be close together, and initially assigned rooms on two different floors. However when changing the beds to twin rooms one room was changed and as a result we happily ended up very close to each other.
So clean and quiet. Stayed for a wedding in Athlone. Taxi was about 14euro each way and we had no problems getting one in and out.
Comfy rooms with bice spacious ensuites. Grounds are fantastic. Exceptional value for money compared to the hotels in the town 10/10
The room was spacious and very cozy. It felt very much "at home", and I enjoyed that feeling versus a sterile hotel feeling. The host provided a wonderful breakfast, and when my partner was feeling nauseous, they allowed me to bring up breakfast to him on a tray.
The hotel was absolutely stunning. The bar, restaurant, pool and hot tubs were perfect. The room was huge and extremely comfortable. Couldn't hear a thing from the halls. The quality of food we had all weekend was great.
Great stay, the owner is really one of a kind person that helps you in each requests and it is a pleasure to talk with.
The hotel and the breakfast are a real taste of Ireland, super recommended for a trip in Athlone!
Overnight staff made me coffee at 6 am because there was no access to coffee at that "early" time. wonderful converstation and how happy he was working at the hotel. breakfast very organized considering how busy it was.
A lovely hotel in the center of Athlone. It was a cold/wet evening when we arrived but hotel was very comfortable to step into with all the Covid notices on display without been to intrusive..
Location is great. Very much a relaxing feeling attached to the experience of staying in the Hodson Bay hotel.
