Location, value, some of the people working there were helpful. offered me compensation when i highlighted issues and offered a new room. a spacious apartment in a good location 20-30 minutes walk from athlone town. buses close by. good customer service.

A very friendly couple own this welcoming b and b. The bed was very comfortable and there was a good view from our window. The owners gave us helpful suggestions for where to eat at night. Breakfast was very nice - loved the Irish sausages! The carpark is a fantastic bonus and the walk into town is quite short. We had a good meal at a buzzing Italian restaurant - Il Colosseo.
The ease of getting around the Town was amazing. Their Shopping Centre was class, one of the best I’ve seen, especially for a small Town, it had everything in it. There was a real buzz around the Town. Now I have to say that new Bridge from the Radisson Blu to the Old Town was amazing and so easy to get around. I was also able to get some lovely photos from the Bridge on both sides, a dream location for a novice Photographer. I will certainly be back with my Camera for more opportunities, which there are plenty of in Athlone.

Nice canal boat tours on the Shannon , and if lucky enough to see the army helicopter hovering before landing at med centre army base in centre of town .
Parking is right around town so choose wisely,

Athlone is a lovely place to go for a weekend away. It has many beautiful places and views. It has many yummy food options and restaurants. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a chill relaxing evening.

We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

Athlone is vibrant lovely and tourist friendly town with good hotels,bars,restaurants and tourist activities.I brought 12 Danish guys there for 24 hours during a five day tour of Ireland. They loved it.Boat trip,live music,poker tournament in hotel,few pubs.Great craic!

Our room had a lake view which was lovely but the staff were very young and seemed inexperienced service was very slow also the single mattress in our bedroom was uncomfortable and needed to be replaced

We stayed over the Christmas holidays 2023/24. I could not recommend this property more. The location is just a few kilometers from Athlone, which is in the center of Ireland. This made it ideal for us as we were looking to visit areas all over the island. The apartment is quaint and comfortable on a very quiet country lane. But most of all, our hosts were absolutely the best. We will be visiting in Ireland again, and we plan to stay here again.
Neil and Avril are absolutely lovely, and their restoration of the house was done with noticeable care and meticulous attention. Our room was beautiful and comfy, and breakfast was quite delicious. I found myself wishing we had more time here because of the excellent hosts! Neil gave many recommendations and fun history lessons of the extended area. The house was a short walk (maybe 1 km?) into the touristy part of Athlone. Would stay again!
At ten minutes walking distance from Athlone town centre and the train station, we got a full-sized 2-bedroom 1.5 bathroom appartment with all ameneties and well-equipped kitchen, all much bigger than we've had before when booking a self-catering appartment. We only stayed one night, so it was a pity we couldn't really enjoy it completely; this would be an ideal starting place if you want to explore this part of Ireland for several days.
In the heart of Athlone with parking included. Comfortable rooms ( not finished to high standards decor wise but clean and comfortable). Breafast was Full Irish with also cereals, fruit salad and juices on offer. Friendly welcoming staff. Hotel is a fantastic rate b&b I will definitely stay again.
Location is convenient for whether you use public or private transportation.
Cooked breakfast could be better but just my opinion.
Wonderful selection otherwise with plenty of other options and service professional by irish standards (formal).

I love to stay in Shamrock Lodge when in Athlone for work. Nothing better than going to a nice, clean and comfortable room after a long day travelling and working.
The staff is always kind and willing to help with our needs, and the food in the restaurant is really tasty!
So clean and quiet. Stayed for a wedding in Athlone. Taxi was about 14euro each way and we had no problems getting one in and out.
Comfy rooms with bice spacious ensuites. Grounds are fantastic. Exceptional value for money compared to the hotels in the town 10/10
The hotel is located right in the center of the town and within walking distance to many things. The breakfast (food, staff and room) is excellent. The only disappointment is that there is no fridge or microwave in what is supposed to be a suite.
Great little find in Athlone,nice and quiet(bad experiences with very noisy hotels in Athlone before) very friendly staff, basic but had a great price which is rare these days. Would definitely go back if needed a hotel in Athlone again.

Overnight staff made me coffee at 6 am because there was no access to coffee at that "early" time. wonderful converstation and how happy he was working at the hotel. breakfast very organized considering how busy it was.
I had stayed the week before and had booked a hotel for the next Friday night, but I had enjoyed my stay so much that when I found there was availability I cancelled the hotel and went back to Shannonside House
