It is an excellent option. Location is quite central, so you can move fast from everywhere. The service was very nice, and all the people were super helpful. Finally, the breakfast... it is absolutely worthy... In many good hotels you have the same buffet... not here. Semarang is a beautiful historic city, with lots of old...
Semarang is a beautiful historic city, with lots of old buildings and quite a few of them beautifully reinstated and renovated. It is also quite liberal with a good mix of churches and mosques. Because of that, you do see a lot of lovebirds around and once night falls, the colourful Rikshaws ornamented with glowing unicorns and other animals lighten up the city centre.
We will definitely try to visit another time.

Lovely city, lots to do and see between the old colonial town center and the newer part of the city. Lovely buildings, nice architecture, some small parks, and typical kampong like Pelangi and Batik Kampong.
The old Dutch train station was turned into a museum, open to the public for the train lovers.
Also the recipient for the #1 cleanest city in Indonesia award Semarang lives up to its reputation.

Semarang has a little bit of everything.
Semarang has a little bit of everything. A good mix of old town vs. new development, a hot sunny day in lower part of the town vs. breezy higher part of the town where you can relax and enjoy the rest of your evening. A foodie heaven, as well as a great place for those who seeks historical sites that scattered around the city, as well as the ones available through 1/2-1 hour drive away from the city center.

I made a mistake to go back to Semarang on the way from...
I made a mistake to go back to Semarang on the way from Surabaya to Jakarta and spend 4 days there. It was not Semarang I remembered from 30 years ago. I should have stayed in Surabaya instead or ANY other city than Semarang.
It has interesting touristic spots, but you need tome to get there and its very far from each other, Up to you, I spend 3 days too much there.

I picked the wrong time to travel to Semarang, it was raining the whole evening that we had to cancel going to Semawis (weekend culinary night open market) and riding the bike around Simpang Lima. Otherwise, Semarang at night would have been amazing.
Managed to visit Kota Lama, Lawang Sewu and Sam Poo Kong, though. For a very short period of visit, it was worth it.
I like the location, it is near from Simpang Lima square, which is a one of central Semarang's public activities and also near the culinary center (it was near the "Pak Supar" resto which have the famous fried chicken and ox-tail soup).
The interior design of the hotel, that was I like the most. Its full of modern artwork, not just in the lobby or their public space, but also in the room. I was wondering, is the hotel give some opportunities to local artist to have an exhibition in the hotel public space, eventually?
What I especially appreciate is the friendliness of the staff. If I could highlight a few people who do their job extremely well, it would be
Devita at reception, super friendly, always helpful and patient with a big smile,
Dimas, a multi-talent at the bar, who creates delicious, own drinks, speaks excellent English and provides excellent service and
Roy, marketing manager, who makes the stay in the hotel very pleasant through his hospitality and enthusiasm.
A centrally located hotel where restaurants are within 1 to 2 km away, in fact the local and traditional foods are only walking distance from the property. Quite wide variety of breakfast choices that come from several parts of the nation. Helpful staffs showing genuine hospitality. Despite some bath towels and bedding look need to be refurbished, the property could be favorable to stay for solo traveler as well as family's gate away.
Near toll gate. Property is secured. Hotel is clean, enough lighting, comfortable bed and feel like home. Breakfast selection is good and taste is acceptable. Americano is great to start your day. I like this modern design in the room. Nasi goreng and Rawon taste so delicious. Room service staff is polite and follow health protocols. This hotel is easily sold out as I want to stay here again this weekend and the room is fully booked.

Cozy and minimalistic room with a comfy futon bed and a large window. The staff was very polite and helpful. Both the lobby and the room are stylish and modern. The location is very central but the room was quiet nonetheless. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel, which is perfect for a short stay in Semarang.
