Coconut Garden Beach Resort, hotel in Maumere

Coconut Garden Beach Resort has a fitness centre, garden, a terrace and restaurant in Maumere. Among the various facilities are a bar, water sports facilities, as well as a private beach area.

Stunning setting, great place to chill and relax. It's out of town and not within walking distance to any other shops etc, but the food at the restaurant is more than sufficient to keep you going. Friendly staff with a spotlessly clean room. Fantastic sunsets right from the property. Just a heads up that the 'bed' is a mattress on the floor, it was comfy, but I know some people might find that harder going to get in/out from. The mosquito net doesn't quite reach round either, but I didn't have any issues with mosquitos there. I used their airport transfer service when I left, perfectly on time (at 5.30am!) and worked a treat.

I went island hopping and snorkeling at a couple of small islands near Maumere. The underwater scenery was beautiful. Healthy corals and schools of fish. Maumere is a Catholic city. There's a big Jesus and Mother Mary statue. The traditional market is also interesting as you can find local woven fabric.

If you love diving it was a great place.

If you love diving it was a great place. Did a couple of boat dives and some shore dives. Again the shore dives where not as good as the boat dives as the sites where dirty and filled with rubbish. lf you go ask the dive company if you are doing shore dives if they supply rubbish bags and collect some rubbish while diving. My BCD pockets where filled and l still carried rubbish out in my hands. lt is more the local people not understanding that we need to keep the oceans clean At the moment it is not very touristy (like Lauben Bajo)so it was a bit hard to get the boat dives every day as l was a single diver but if you are in Flores l do recommend going to Maumere and check out the dive sites. l stayed 3 days and dived every day if you do not do shore dives and only boat dives 2 days would be great to get in some good dives but it is a distance to go so try and do 3 dives the first and 2 the second if you are flying l missed out on my last dive as l ran out of time.
