Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centred around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and boasting limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood-fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soda drinks Pipi and Orela.

Split has a beautiful old town, which has lots of shops, a food market every morning and lots of historical buildings and places to visit and walk around for free or a low price. We took a walking tour around the city whilst visiting to find out more about the history, we also climbed the bell tower to get lovely views and we listened to traditional croatian singing in the palace in town each morning- we would reccommend seeking this out! We also took a three islands boat trip, which included snorkelling and visiting another island- such a magical experience overall, well worth a visit!

Astonishing place to visit!
Astonishing place to visit!
Walking through the Diocletian Palace in Split is just like be back in time to the Roman Empire.
It is very impressive that such a place could keep all these architectual gems even we understand the effort done in the last years to preserve them and also the restoration works in other parts.
Really recommended experience!

The city is so full of history and character.
The city is so full of history and character. We recommend doing a tour as soon as you arrive in order to familiarize yourself with what else you would like to see. We did the 'Split Walking Tour with History Professor' and it was fantastic. He shared a lot of advice about what to see and we followed everything he suggested and had a fabulous time. We would definitely recommend a visit to Klis fortress which is a little out of town and can be visited by bus or taxi. We also had a roast lamb lunch at a local restaurant in the area of Klis called Restoran Perlica which we highly recommend. Amazing food and great value for money. Almost everyone in the restaurant were locals! We then visited the Island of Brac for a relaxing beach vacation. We could have done with one more day to visit some of the other cultural sights outside of the Diocletian palace.

We stayed here twice. A few days at the beginning of our trip to Croatia and a couple of days at the end.
Communication with Nevena was spot on and Jago's help with our cases up and down from the 4th floor was an absolute godsend.
Shower was one of the best we had.
Balcony was quite small and the local pigeons seemed to love it so didn't sit out on it.
Bastion is in a great spot for exploring (and getting lost)in the little streets of the old town.
Also not too far from the port and the bus station for exploring further afield
Perfect location right in the centre of the old town. Apartment Mila was beautifully clean, very comfortable and well equipt. Ivana the host is lovely and was always easily contactable and ready to help with anything.
We had a wonderful relaxing 10 day stay in Old Town Split and Apartment Mila was great and exactly like the photos show, we couldn't of asked for anything better for the money.
Would definitely recommend it and if we do come back to Croatia again we will stay here. 😊
location in the heart of old town split, amazing roof top terrace, easy check in and check out,Tony the guy who looks after this place was always in contact with us up to checking in,also arranged pick up for us from airport,Natalie the lovely lady picked us up,was very informative about split and Croatia on our transfer to and from the airport, all rooms were very clean with everything we needed,10/10 this is a must stay in the heart of old town split
I loved this place! So cozy and felt like home. I could get everything i needed, the nights were quiet and the location just perfect. Its a short nice walk to the old town and just a few minutes from amazing sandy beach. (Most beaches are indeed stones in Croatia). Nearby also very nice food places, nice coffee, supermarkets etc. Everything was just perfect during my stay and I will definitely come back!
- The room was very spacious, clean and looked recently renovated
- Comfortable bed
- Welcoming drinks, snacks and also plenty of extra hotel kits (shower gel, shampoos, shaving kit, etc)
- Host gave us the restaurant recommendation for our best meal in Croatia. Just a few meters from the apartment :)
