Lovely welcome by the owner and staff. They were very kind and considerate towards our new adopted dog. The location was great, in the centre of this mountain village and its facilities. The hotel was charming and very clean. Breakfast was good although we had to leave the village early due to a car rally. We had the most delicious hand made pizza on the previous evening. A lovely, short but sweet stay. We would return.

Comfortable first floor room in a historic mansion in Portaria. It is less than 5 minutes' walk to the village centre, which is where a lot of the restaurants, cafes, shops and the bus stop to Volos is located. The breakfast was excellent, the staff were helpful and the hotel has a nice pool for cooling off after hiking.

I recently stayed at the Pillion Resort, and my experience was a mix of positives and a few areas that could use improvement. The resort is situated in a decent location, which provides easy access to local attractions. The grounds are well-maintained, and the natural surroundings are quite pleasant.
The rooms were adequate in size and fairly clean, though they could benefit from some updates to make them feel more modern and comfortable. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and the basic amenities were provided, but there was nothing particularly outstanding.
The service was generally polite, but it lacked the warmth and attentiveness that makes a stay memorable. While the staff were helpful when approached, there were a few occasions where more proactive service would have been appreciated.
Overall, Pillion Resort offers a satisfactory experience for those looking for a basic place to stay. It’s not a bad choice if you’re just looking for somewhere to rest while exploring the area, but there are a few aspects that could be improved to enhance the overall guest experience.

Very beautiful traditional Greek mountain village with small shops (local products) and few restaurants. Difficult to find parking in the center of the village, one public parking but it's very small. Easy to make road trips around Pelion area - go around if you have a car, this is one of the most beautiful regions in Greece (also in summer, not only winter). Some part of the roads (in Pelion area, not in Portaria) were destroyed in winter 2024 during storms. Unfortunately, they were still destroyed in July 2024. You can go around by car, roads are not closed, but needs a bit attention in many places and wouldn't recommend to drive at night (dark). Time from Portaria to beach (Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero) took from us abt 40 min so take your time. To Village "Kala Nera" (nice beach, long with plenty of place in July) a bit less.

I liked:
I liked:
The traditional house architecture that has been somehow preserved and gives a unique character to the entire village.
The streams and creeks inside and around the village.
The main square with the beautiful large platanus-sycamore trees.
The views of the Pagasitikos bay from the village.
The view of the thickly wooded forests of chestnuts and walnuts.
Portaria and Makrynitsa and Pelion in general are close to what my idea of paradise is!

I really do not understand why people are going there.
It is a very small village on the top of a mountain near Volos.Ok, the view is very nice especially during night, but You need to climb the mounting by car and you need 30-40 minutes for 9 km.When you arrive there, you will find many hotels, 8-10 restaurants, 3-4 souvenir shop, one petrol station, one pharmacy and nothing else.

All villages from Pelion are extremely interesting and with a local air. The view is just unbelievable. A great rustic experience which a real urban, busy traveler must have. The food, the nature, the panorama, every and each place are just mind blowing. Pelion is not the tourist oriented place, but this makes it even more desirable. So, if you choose Greece and you might need some peace of soul, this is the place.
Super nice welcome, Great Hospitality! We got the best room with a stunning view over Volos bay. Lovely breakfast, charming room and house. Portaria is a sweet mountain village with taverns and a good starting point to make day trips on Pelion. We definitely recommend to stay!
Excellent location at the heart of Portaria, close to Volos and neighbouring villages in mt Pelion. The room was clean and spacious, while the hosts were friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was of great quality and vfm.
