Very pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was impeccably clean everywhere. The room was huge and well supplied. The location was also ideal, close to shopping and the centre of the town as well as tourist venues such as the Dadiani Palace and Botanical garden.

It is a small town with many cars. Dadiani's palace and botanical garden are must-sees, and the rest are the courtyards of Zugdidi residents with beautiful flowers. 2 days is enough. It is very similar to a village, only one main street is similar to a city :)

An excellent place for staying like a checkpoint.
An excellent place for staying like a checkpoint. It is in the middle of Samegrelo. In the morning you re having a ride/trip around the city (out of the city as well) and in the evening will relax in the city. Sea is on the 30 minutes from Zugdidi.

Small city with absolutely terrific Botanical Garden - not a largest botanical garden in Georgia, but really well-handled, clean and cozy, perfect in every way (also you can feed fish, which living in central pond - really nice experience). Dadiani Palace and small church near it - also good looking from outside (we've been to late to actually visit it, so we've made just a short walk around).
Highly recommend to try local traditional food, also. Megrelian cuisine is a gem.

Some of the best Soviet era mosaics I've seen in Georgia.
Some of the best Soviet era mosaics I've seen in Georgia. Also bas reliefs and retired ambulances. Really interesting. The palace is well worth seeing, both the grounds and the museum, the market is excellent. Lots of places within walking or van distance too. I ate at The Host and can recommend that as a pretty good option and central.

Zugdidi is capital of Samegrelo, it is famous for Dadiani Palace, which is one of the well preserved places in Georgia and has a unique collection of guns, various weapons, Napoleon's mask and generally, provides sufficient information on how Georgian people lived in the 19-th century.

We were in Zugdidi for one night only as a stop off on the way from Batumi to Mestia and did not see a lot of the city but it seemed a pleasant enough place. It was still over three hours to get to Mestia so, in retrospect, we should possibly have stopped off a little closer.
