We stayed one night in this guesthouse. It was a nice experience but the price was higher than other guesthouses that we stayed. The living room area had a bad smell. Otherwise everything was ok. They also arranged us a taxi to go back to Mestia.

Guesthouse Nora, hotel in Ushguli

Featuring a garden, bar and views of mountain, Guesthouse Nora is situated in Ushguli, 41 km from Museum of History and Ethnography. There is an in-house restaurant and free private parking.

I had a lovely stay at Nora's Guesthouse. Located at the top of Ushguli, you can look onto the Greater Caucasus mountains from the front doorstep on clear mornings, with the monastery in the foreground. The breakfast was fantastic and the best value of all the guest houses I stayed in. It is a true working farm, so the eggs come from the chickens and the cheese from the cows that get milked each evening when they bring themselves home from the mountain pastures. The big black guard dog is super friendly and they have a horse you can rent to take you to the glacier.

Mate Private Rooms, hotel in Ushguli

Boasting garden views, Mate Private Rooms provides accommodation with patio, around 41 km from Museum of History and Ethnography.

The property is new and located at the highest part of the town. It had great views over the rest of the town and of the surrounding countryside. The property is family-owned and great for solo travellers and couples who do not mind lots of activity as the property requires climbing a hill and two flights of stairs but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is prepared fresh each morning and very good (but quite a lot!). It will probably be the only meal you need for the whole day. The property is quiet and I slept well each night.

Ushguli is uniquely beautiful. A one-of-a-kind location.

Ushguli is uniquely beautiful. A one-of-a-kind location. Quite simply a dream. It deserves time spent here. More than a day trip. You can hike. You can sit and soak up the unforgettable views. Wandering through Ushguli is like stepping back in time. We stayed for two nights and it was quite simply one of the top highlights of our travels to date. Our mistake: not staying longer.

Authentic beautiful mountain village. Definitely recommend. But it is cheaper to get there then to return from it to Mestia. You can go hiking to Shkhara glacier by foot or take a horse for half a way.

Ushguli an amazing place. I travelled from Tbilisi by car.

Ushguli an amazing place. I travelled from Tbilisi by car. The roads are not the best and you will need a 4WD car, but you will be rewarded with amazing views. untouched landscape and unforgettable views. When in Ushguli you will feel like someone sent you back to another century and this is what gives this village a distinctive charm. In the village itself you do not need a car, everything is walking distance and make sure you do walk around and dive into the village life. When you visit Ushguli even in Summer be aware that it can get a little chilly in the evening outdoors.

The landscape is amazing, you can have an easy hike to the glacier, rent a horse or hire a 4x4 car to take you to the glacier. There are hikes for every level, you can be very unfit and you will still enjoy it. If you are a hiker than for sure you are in heaven. Try the cinema, it is a very authentic experience.

This was absolutely the best part of Georgia for my husband and I. The combination of medieval towers, spectacular mountain scenery, and getting to see everyday farm life in the village was such a unique experience. The hike to the nearby Shkhara glacier is also fabulous. I would love to come back here someday.

Incredibly difficult place to get to but worth the effort.

Incredibly difficult place to get to but worth the effort. High in the Svaneti mountains, close to the glaciers, this is a trekker's paradise. Kids riding their ponies through the streets at break-neck speed, shooing pigs from the garden, cows being milked in the street, this place has it all. And the scenery is out of this world
