The Grand Hotel Ushba is really beautiful situated in the Becho Vally and offers an ideal starting points for (day or longer) hikes in the area. As a matter of fact, we thought the views from the valley were some of the most stunning we saw during our overall 4 days in Svaneti. The host Richard is an expert on hiking and other outdoor activities in the area and he gave us some really good tips! He also lent us his book with hikes in Svaneti region that was very helpful. We had dinner twice which was not only tasty and exactly what we needed after a long day of hiking, but also in a very nice atmosphere, cozy and with a lot of attention to detail. Breakfast was also great (warm and filling, and also available at 7 am which allowed us to start our hike early). The rooms are clean and cozy, again nicely decorated with great attention to detail.

I highly recommend hopping off here en-route to Mestia for a couple of days or more for the amazing waterfall/glacier day hikes and/or intense relaxation in the valley. The tourist cafe with hammocks is a great place to chill or end a hike with a beer etc Room was warm and comfy. Breakfast and dinner were fresh and provided just the right amount, with the option of extra. Murman was full of stories about hikers difficulties over the year and was helpful in checking and advising on weather conditions.

We were on hiking from mestia to mazeri and when were deathly tired in mazeri, somehow the owner found us on the road and gave us a lift to apartment. After they met us with dinner.
