The Little Hide - Grown Up Glamping, hotel in Wigginton

These luxury, adult-only camping pods offer cosy self-catering accommodation just 3 miles from the historic centre of York.

Lovely area. Close to York but peaceful & quiet, nice places to take our dog for walks. Our 'dog pod' was clean and equipped with basic essentials. A fan or heater if needed, kettle, cups. Comfortable bed & sofa. Food storage area was available to use with fridges, a microwave, iron etc should you need it. Shower block and toilet facilities were a short walk away, but the area was safe & well lit at night time. There were barbecues to use and a communal area to sit outdoors by a fire. A café next door with a good choice of quality food & drink, a gift shop & children's play area (even though the site is adult only) a bus stop right outside the site with regular buses into the city centre. Place was easy to find and access using instructions given - didn't see any staff on site other than a cleaner but didn't need any help at any point.

The Grand, York, hotel in Wigginton

The 5-star Grand Hotel offers stylish rooms and a luxury vaulted spa.

Beautiful hotel. On arrival, we were checked in by the manager who very kindly allowed us to check in early as 2 of our rooms were ready. The hotel is right across the road from the train station so very easy to get to. Always at least two members of staff available for anything you may need at the desk. All staff were very polite and very professional. The concierge were fantastic they even gave out umbrellas to use on one of our days that was raining.

York Pavilion Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western, hotel in Wigginton

This delightful Country House Hotel in the historic city of York offers free Wi-Fi and on-site parking for nominal charge.

We liked the bedroom - spacious with a big comfy bed. Excellent breakfast with both continental and English cooked breakfast options. I thought the staff were super helpful and courteous, even under pressure of calling an ambulance for a guest who had collapsed. Really good stay, again, thank you.

Holiday Inn Express York, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Wigginton

This hotel is ideally located in a serene and peaceful setting in York, just 2.5 miles from the city centre with free parking and free breakfast.

Room was fine although compact and a bit tired compared with Travelodge and Premier, with a small double bed ( not had less than a king size bed in a hotel room for many years!) Also old fashioned warm air heater which we switched on on arrival as it was getting cold. - I suppose it’s more cost effective than central heating. Room had everything we needed and was comfortable enough for one night but I’ve had better rooms for cheaper. However excellent power shower and a very good breakfast included in price made it better value.

The bed was comfortable, but the cabin pod was shabby and dark with no water. The site was shabby and depressing. The loos and showers were a long trek from the cabin but were clean. The pod decking was old, filthy and burned. The pod decking furniture was old, filthy and uncomfortable. It needs a total upgrade. The site is, however, very near to a shopping area called Clifton Moor and very near to York. There is no scenic view of nature from the pod site just a gravel path and car park. Not a pleasant place to stay despite being cheap I would never stay there again. There are dog-friendly pods, and I stayed in one but that is no reason for it to be shabby and smelly. I have stayed in much better-equipped pods that are dog-friendly. Unpleasant experience overall. No loo or running water are not acceptable these days even in glamping sites.

Lovely relaxing location just on the outskirt of beautiful York. Accommodate very cosy and peaceful, very enjoyable trip. A good idea to book a taxi into York in advance and a must for the return trip, plenty of taxi firms to choose. Lovely farm cafe open for breakfast and other options near by. Lots of local character pubs about. Lighting the fire pit in the evening made it feel very autumnal and blankets provided in the accommodation to cosy up with. Lovely scenic location

The Cabin was very comfortable and the toilet/shower block was in good order. I liked the addition of the fridge facilities in the cool store nearby.
