We arrived really late, so Paul was on hand to provide a code to access the front door and our key to the room was waiting for us. The breakfast was really good and great value for money. Choice of bagels with bacon or sausage and a fried egg, eggs benedict and other choices as well as toast and some fruit and cakes.
The facility is clean and well presented and the hosts, Paul & Lee are really accommodating and go out of their way to help.

Fantastic find- lovely host - hospitable, polite welcoming and had lots of good advice about the locality, I was on my own - a female - but felt safe and relaxed in this very homely, clean and well run establishment - I will be back with my husband who was having surgery at tyneside hospital hence the overnight stay. - I arrived stressed, tired and windswept but was soon put at ease and made welcome ,my room was clean, quiet, airy and light with everything I could need- breakfast was amazing - 👏 tip- try the banana bread home made - mouth watering as was the perfectly cooked breakfast - thank you so much for a lovely stay and I will be back with my better half definitely - a brilliant guest house. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The weather was so bad that I don't think we saw the best of the town.
However the front is very clean and there are a few shops in the town centre plus a cinema and a concert hall.
It is a good place to use as a base to visit other places and the bus service is very good if you don't have a car.

I was disappointed there wasn’t a tourist information office but the library staff were very helpful as was the guest house owner.
I enjoyed visiting the landmarks and just walking along the coast. The Jam Jar cinema was also worth a visit.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops.
Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops. It also has easy access to Newcastle and the surrounding area by road and by Metro. In the summer Whitley Bay is busy but in the winter it is much quieter.
I have visited this town many times while visiting my daughter. On this occasion my visit was not a holiday; I was helping my daughter to move house.
Great location overlooking the seafront and the bay. A very easy stroll into town and a pleasant walk to Cullercoats and Tynemouth. The friendly staff at the restaurant downstairs allowed us to use their car parking spaces to unload and load the luggage and then we always managed to find a parking space in the streets behind the property. Parking was free with the permit provided. Raymond the host was very helpful with any queries being answered by return. All in all, very good value for money and we would definitely stay there again.
Stayed 2 nights to enable me to run the Great North Run. Comfortable room in wonderful farm house set in pleasant rural location with super friendly and helpful staff (John & Trish). 3 friendly and well behaved dogs made it feel homely along with the horses and donkey. Plenty of parking space and access to the metro which will take you to the centre of Newcastle and also on a pleasant journey along the coast which is well worth exploring. Very enjoyable stay Thanks David from Bristol.
Fantastic location, really good rate for a night's stay. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Cheapest hotel in Whitley bay, decor is a little tired and dated, but really can't complain due to the price. If you want to cut costs right down to explore the area and aren't fussed on decor then its fine
Beautiful guest house in the heart of Whitley Bay. spotlessly clean throughout, great hosts who were very friendly and welcoming. serving one of the best breakfasts that I've had in a guest house. if you are thinking of coming to Whitley Bay, then look no further than the Metropolitan guest house
The features of the hotel were original and had a great feel to the hotel, the room was really big, unlike some popular chains. The lady on reception was absolutely brilliant. So close to the beach and town center and free on road parking with no restrictions and dog friendly.
What's not to like.
Everything. The owners were very attentive and very friendly. The room was amazing. Bed was soooo comfy. The breakfast was cooked fresh in the morning and was outstanding. I don’t have a bad word to say about this hotel. We will be back next year.
The guesthouse is ideally located on the sea front the room we were in was excellent the shower room was very good.
The breakfast was excellent and made fresh a full English.
Definitely a 5 star stay and will be going back soon
We loved the breakfast- amazing choice and quality, not standard bb fare, the staff - Michael is a fabulous host. Location is perfect. Whitley bay is fabulous, amazing beach and great restaurants all short distance away.
Breakfast was superb it was served by friendly staff, Julie was most helpful when I had a problem with logging into the WiFi It was the first time we have stayed at The Royal Hotel and I am sure it will not be the last.
I booked this hotel but it’s closed down without any notification disgusting service my granddaughter and I left stranded in Whitley Bay with no availability anywhere else had to travel home
It looks like this hotel has recently had some updating and it’s good.
My room was nice and comfortable and the breakfast was nice and fresh.
Great location just off the promenade.

A very nice comfy room, clean bathroom and very good smell of sheet. It's also very close with just 5 minutes walk to Whitley Bay Metro to Newcastle City Centre
