The hotel is very unique. From outside it looks very outdated but inside is the exact opposite. It is being refurbished but most of it is complete. The communal areas have lovely furnishings with unusual decor. The rooms are old but have clean furnishings. The layout is quirky, stone staircases etc

There are many beautiful buildings, though some are in need of TLC. Though the town felt a wee bit dilapidated in some places, presumably due to lack of funding, our overall impression was extremely positive. People seemed really friendly, and very happy that we were interested in discovering their town. The Beacon Museum was very interesting, and walking along the cliff top was lovely (we could see Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man). They don't shy away from the tragic elements of their history - the colliery disasters that took so many lives. We ate very well in the Vagabond pub and the Peddler restaurant, and bought some books in Michael Moon bookshop (definitely worth a visit)

Not a huge amount going on in Whitehaven but we found 2 great places to eat - Anna's Bar and Kitchen, and Akash Tandoori. We also did part of the C2C, traffic free cycle route which is worth a go.

Very friendly people and great customer service.

Very friendly people and great customer service. Good choice of restaurants The harbour had a good continental vibe, when the sun was shinning. The town is making a good attempt to keep their heritage while at the same time modernising the harbour. We ate at The Peddler, The Vagabond and Zest Harbourside. All were excellent. One night we had a fish and chip takeaway from Frasers., that was also excellent. Whitehaven is near to the Lakes and the great beach of St. Bees. The cliff top walk from Whitehaven to St .Bees had fantastic views.

Interesting to discover coastal walks , a bit disappointed that Beacon museum charge for admission ! Surely locals / visitors / tourists should be encouraged to see and learn about the area in general without being hit with a charge . Public can eat in Moresby Hall and are great value for money !

Beautiful harbour. Beacon museum very interesting.

Beautiful harbour. Beacon museum very interesting. Easy access by road to places of interest with fantastic mountain scenery, valleys and lakes.Take a boat trip on Lake Windermere, return journey only £17. Avoid driving up to Surprise View - it's not for the faint hearted or inexperienced driver, especially if you have an approaching vehicle, with inches to pass and a long drop!! Ravenglass 15 gauge steam train ride not worth the money as not much to look at.

Places to eat are plentiful and excellent cooking, the Beacon museum definitely worth a visit. Parking plentiful but some can be expensive. Roads take a bit of getting acquainted with as streets are a bit twisty turny and some are one way so best to drive with care and know where you going, Whitehaven is a lovely town with plenty to do and see with an amazing amount of history. Definitely worth a visit, but our long weekend not long enough

It was my first time coming to Cumbria and it was really lovely to stay here! Beautiful rooms, cozy, warm. Downstairs area with fireplace in particular beautiful! All staff mega helpful and went above and beyond when I was staying! And hotels dog even cuter! Little chunky boy ahha. Food for dinner was amazing! Great and generous portion sizes! P.s. that crispy salt and pepper chicken was unreal! No idea how you make it so soft but omg!

There was an excellent variety of different facilities around the hotel including a shop near reception, which was reasonably priced, and a fairly large bar area with a pool table as well as a restauraunt and much much more. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nice enough.
