From a personal point of view, we haven't stayed in a place that is such incredible value for money as this. We paid what we thought was our usual, low budget fee and felt like we'd won the lottery. Beautiful quiet scenic setting, friendly staff, really comfy bed, super clean, everything feels like top quality. Wish we'd stayed for more than one night as it would've made for a wonderfully relaxing long stay. They set a very high bar.

Location is unreal your right in the heart of Whitby we will most definitely be returning to this little gem.
This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town centre.

I’ve stayed here quite a few times now and all the staff I’ve encountered are friendly and approachable.
The rooms have comfortable beds plus air conditioning which is a real plus for me, a variety of drinks including bottled water are also included.

The best, most picturesque English seaside town I've visited. So much to see and do. The ancient harbour and twin piers; lots of restaurants such as Magpie Cafe and the Humble Pie and Mash shop; lots of places to stay; Skinner Street with its boutique shops and lovely Botham's bakery; a ruined Abbey dominating the views; a brewery; gorgeous sunsets on the beach; sailing boats and boat trips; an old marketplace and the local museum set in a beautiful park (you need at least 2 or 3 hours for the museum); a steam railway. Also, Whitby is ideal for exploring the local area such as pretty Robin Hood Bay, Scarborough and the Yorkshire Moors.

We’ve been coming to Whitby for many years.
We’ve been coming to Whitby for many years. We prefer it in better weather. We came home earlier than planned as it was raining heavily.
We always enjoy visiting the local shops and bars as the people are very friendly. We had lunch at The Duke of York pub which was good value for money.

Whitby is gorgeous, so much see, fabulous places to eat and drink, when the sun is out it is absolutely bliss, we walked to the Abbey and visited the Whitby brewery a great atmosphere, we had fish and chips at the magpie which is a must especially after it’s refurb cannot recommend highly enough
The room we had was just a basic double. It was clean, warm and comfortable with a view of the Abbey over the rooftops. The breakfast was fair but I thought the bacon was too hard to cut or eat, sausage ok and the fried egg was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I booked the hotel by searching whitby hotel with parking however didn't realise this was street parking if you can find a space or in a car park away from the hotel. So i shouldnt have assumed it had its own car park. All in all was a pleasant two day stay.
I loved all the character of the property, as soon as I walked in it had a very elegant Victorian feel to the building. It definitely stood out as more than an ordinary hotel room.
The room was clean, comfortable and very spacious,it had everything you could need.
The bed was so comfortable, I had a brilliant night sleep.
The hotel is in a perfect location with only a short walk into Whitby town centre and had parking on site if you didn’t want to pay parking fees in town.
I loved my stay and would definitely stay again.
Location .
Best area in whitby to stay I would say as just a short walk/cut through to town centre . But in a quiet location.
Had parking area there was space when I arrived.
Also in area where promenade and beach is.
Classic traditional British hotel.complete with a actual key to the rooms .
I booked bed and breakfast one night I stay in a lot of hotels and I can’t think Iv had a better breakfast .
Quality the service spot on. Cooked to order
I will take up the evening meal option if I am up this way again .
Traditional Seaside Hotel. Good location in the West Cliff area of Whitby. Room/Bathroom was clean, spacious and did have a sea view although the hotel is a little way from the sea front. The local area was very quiet in the evening during our stay. Hosts were both really pleasant and the freshly cooked to order breakfast was excellent. Although we didn't move the car very much the parking permit was very useful as spaces can be difficult to find in your chosen area.
Beautiful location. Probably the best view I've had at a hotel from the resident's dining room and gardens. Straight across Robin's Hood Bay. Beautiful. The room was spacious, well appointed and decorated with good views across the countryside and a glimpse of the bay. Lunch and dinner were excellent. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful.
Great location for exploring the area including wonderful Whitby
Travelled to Whitby for an over night stay with my 80 year old mum. We had separate single, sea view rooms, which were basic but comfortable and clean. Great view of the abbey and harbour. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice.
Great evening entertainment in the bar. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and efficient. Great location for walking down to the harbour and ample nearby parking.
The Overdale was very clean.
There was a big attention to detail in how the room was presented; it's decor fitted the Victorian feel of the house
so all worked really well.
We had a lovely few days in Whitby which part of it, was down to our comfortable & clean accomodation.
It was lovely to talk to Jane our host, she was very informative re.places to go in Whitby.
Great to have a parking space too.
This was an impressive holiday home near the centre of Whitby. There is an abundance of space to relax and enjoy this truly smartly dressed home, with a convenient private drive/parking space right outside the front door. The lovely enclosed garden was a perfect sun trap for some alfresco dining. Plus the added bonus of a sumptuous soak in the hot-tub after a long walk in town. Perfect in every way!
Great historic hotel very close to the sights in Whitby. Lovely spacious room with settee and four poster bed. Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived early, parked the car in the hotel car park, then popped into the hotel reception to inform them. Room was already cleaned and ready, so we checked in. Great breakfast quality. Great tea & coffee facility in the room, Yorkshire Tea a real bonus.
amazing location with beautiful views across the harbour! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were great for a hostel in a historic building. We appreciated that this isn’t a party hostel, most other people staying were families, walkers or cyclists looking for a quiet space for the night. We will absolutely be recommending this hostel to anyone staying in Whitby.
Right in the heart of Whitby, this was the first time we have stopped at the Angel Hotel. To be honest, the photo's we saw online didn't quite do it justice. The room had a modern feel, was clean and comfortable and we will definitely book again when we next return. We were on the 2nd floor and heard no noise from the bar below. It was nice to have a view of the harbour too.
The location, setting and facilities were superb. The only thing lacking at this hotel is that we found that the food was quite 'hit and miss' for the price range (undercooked/overcooked items at dinner, breakfast buffet and hot food could be much improved).
The pool and spa facilities are great and the setting in unbeatable however.
Fantastic entertainment, great location with lovely views. We luckily parked directly outside & for free (out of season) the downstairs of this hotel is lovely and feels royal but its so dated and rundown. All the same it has charm. Great location at the top of the cliff looking down into the bay, will definitely visit Whitby again
The accommodation was excellent, very clean and stylish, love the 4 floors, kitchen was very modern with everything you needed, bedrooms were all very spacious and well thought out, as was the 2 bathrooms.
The location was spot on, only a 5 minute walk down to the harbour.
Really enjoyed our stay. After completing the Endurancelife trail race in Ravenscar the hotel pool and spa facilities were perfect!
Staff all friendly and helpful.
Out of town but it is walkable to Whitby and lots of bus stops.
Lovely hotel right by the sea and beach we could hear the waves from our room 😊 Great views of Whitby and the harbour very close to the abbey steps. Great room comfy bed loved the coffee machine we will definitely be back.
The hotel couldn't be in a better spot in whitby. The room was a good size and in excellent condition. The pub was standard Witherspoon so you know exactly what your getting. All in all a very enjoyable 2 night stay
Excellent hotel set in an idyllic location, only a short drive from Whitby Harbour. The room had great facilities, was very clean and breakfast was delicious, and included in the price!
Lovely place with very welcoming and helpful staff, together with good food and drink. They are very dog friendly! We would certainly stay there again if we are in the Whitby area.
