The Wayside and Whisky Barn, hotel in Whitbeck

The Wayside and Whisky Barn is situated on the South West coast of the Lake District National Park at the base of Black Combe and 3 miles from Silecroft beach.

We thought it was a stunning B&B full of character and beautifully presented. The owner was warm and welcoming and our room was immaculate and cosy with a beautiful view of the mountains. Food was homemade and absolutely delicious. What a gem of a place! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and chilled get away.

The Bear On The Square, hotel in Whitbeck

Set in Millom and with Muncaster Castle reachable within 25 km, The Bear On The Square offers a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

The room was very comfortable, clean and everything worked well. Except the shower. The hot and cold water was good. But shower head didn’t fit well in the bracket. It kept hanging loose. So I had to hold it by hand. Nevertheless, the ceiling shower works well. One issue. It was rather noisy as it overlooks the square. Groups of youngsters rather noisy after going to the pub. Also the Kebab shop in the square attracted the groups of people, as it’s open until midnight. Things got quiet after midnight. Except for the chiming of the clock every hour in the Town Hall. I didn’t need an alarm to wake me up at 7.00. AM. Very convenient Tesco’s around the corner for. Sandwiches, drinks, water. All in all it was a good stay and convenient for my travel plans.

We loved everything about our stay.

We loved everything about our stay. The warm welcome from Emiko and Dan, the owners. The lovely Doreen who served our breakfast, so friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. The accommodation was so clean, room exceeded our expectations, beds so comfortable. The location is beautiful. We drove from Barrow to the accommodation and the views on the way were amazing. Will definitely stay again. Thank you

We felt cold ,light the lovely fire to welcome your guests after a long journey. It was too far out if you needed a restaurant at night . Didn’t like having to drive in awful weather looking for food late at night after a long drive to get there . Not good if you are the only guests . Such a pity . It could have been fantastic, but it was spoiled . Felt like we were creeping around as it was deathly quiet and we were the only ones in the building.

We loved the quality of everything from Service, Hospitality; Food and Drinks. Advice on local attractions, places to eat, walks etc was first class. We were disappointed to find that dinner was not served every evening of our stay. However ~ we had the opportunity to try Local Hostelries which were good.

    The area is beautiful.

The area is beautiful. Irish Sea to your left and mountains and waterfalls to your right. Perfect for walks and drive - definitely need a car unless you’re extremely fit, unlike me... you can also find Indian, Chinese, Italian and fish and chips near by - bargain!!
