Charming 2-Bed Chalet in Tuxford, hotel in Tuxford

Offering garden views, Charming 2-Bed Chalet in Tuxford is an accommodation set in Tuxford, 24 km from Sherwood Forest and 29 km from Lincoln University.

The location was great, on a really lovely quiet site and there was even a small playground for young children. The property itself was really comfortable, had plenty of room for the 3 of us and it was absolutely spotless. We had a lovely, relaxing 2 night stay - great value for money, we hope to return again soon - thank you!

Ruddingwood Lodge, hotel in Tuxford

Offering a garden and garden view, Ruddingwood Lodge is situated in Tuxford, 25 km from Sherwood Forest and 30 km from Lincoln University.

Second stay here and super clean again. Hosts really friendly, helpful and rectified a very minor issue immediately. Met Baz the cat who was just as lovely as his owners.Very private and well equipped with lots of little extras so it feels like home. Milk, eggs, biscuits, coffee too etc all you need. There is a village a few miles up the road that has lots of shops and 2 supermarkets so ideal as a holiday base for longer stays. We will definitely return and look forward to enjoying all the outdoor space again. Victoria is an attentive host, she always responds quickly and tries to help in whatever way she can. That for us personally is one of the main reasons we return to places. I can 100% recommend Ruddingwood Lodge.

The Maypole at Wellow, hotel in Tuxford

A family owned and run former coaching Inn offering elegant rooms and high-quality dining.

Food was very good, especially mid-week dinner. Breakfast self-service so fast for us (just what we needed) but may not suit everybody.

Tumbleweed Cottage, hotel in Tuxford

Boasting a garden and views of garden, Tumbleweed Cottage is a bed and breakfast set in a historic building in Newark upon Trent, 15 km from Clumber Park.

Tumbleweed Cottage is in a beautiful quiet location, within 2 or 3 minutes of the A1 and was perfect for our needs, allowing us a stopover enroute to LeShuttle and breaking up our journey nicely. The cottage was easy to find and easy to access. Shaan and Sef were delightful hosts - their enthusiasm was infectious and they've done a wonderful job of restoring their old lodge, creating a warm, welcoming and very comfortable home. They very kindly agreed to accommodate our request for an earlier breakfast, allowing us to hit the road south in good time, and the range of choice was excellent. We left feeling very rested and very full!! We'd highly recommend staying at Tumbleweed Cottage and we'll definitely be back again the next time we're heading for the Shuttle

There was much more to Tuxford than meets the eye.

There was much more to Tuxford than meets the eye. A perfect stopping off point just by the A1, Tuxford boasts 2 museums, 2 excellent cafes (not open in the evening) a parish lock-up and a very good fish and chip shop. Lincoln and Newark are an easy drive away and the Fountain serves well-cooked food from Thursday to Sunday. Opening times can be a bit variable, the town caters for a local clientele and is definitely not a 24 hour society!

The accommodation was excellent couldn't fault it apart from I forgot to pack my slippers or some flip flops for walking across the decking. It had 2 decent sized gardens for the dog to wander in not fully fenced off but he never wanders too far anyway so no problem for us. It was very private and nice distance away from the other cabin so everyone had their privacy. The owners were lovely and helpful. We did walk into a small part of tuxford which had a pub and a few takeaways which is you want to bring back to the cabin go in car as it is about a 15-20 minute walk. There is also a pub next to the site which also offers takeaway and dine in but it only does food certain days of the week. There was a few buses but if you want to rely on them I'd research them first as I don't know how often the actually ran by the site. There is quite a few places to see if your planning a long trip but you would need a car. All in all its a lovely place just for a quick relaxing getaway. Would definitely recommend for a couple or single person just looking for a nice place to go, wether you want to just full on chill out or if you do want a little adventure.

    Tuxford is a dying village!

Tuxford is a dying village! Overtaken by the amount of heavy goods vehicles passing though it. Roadworks everywhere (probably because of the lorries knackering the road surface). A mainline railway runs very close to it & high speed trains regularly thunder through. I'm sure it was a beautiful place once, but not anymore. The Fountain Hotel isn't as nice as it's website. Actually, I'd rather have stayed on the website. The whole village needs investment (lots of it) & the A1 to disappear!!

    Friendly welcome when we arrived.

Friendly welcome when we arrived. The room was a little small but suited our purpose for a night's accommodation. There's no breakfast option available, although, we were offered a complimentary breakfast it comprised of fruit juice only. There was jam and butter in the fridge there was nothing to put it on! The cost for the room was good and its location was ok. For the price paid the room was comfy and pretty good value for money.
