Apart from the problems with our acommodation we have always liked Torquay and the atmosphere there. We have travelled extensively in Europe. Torquay has had a bad image in the past but if you go to Babbacombe the sea views are beautiful. The Churston area and Broadsands are good. The rural landscape as you drive from Churston to Kingswear is a joy and Dartmouth is a great place to be...especially the Dartmouth Castle Hotel. As more upmarket modern apartments are built, in the future I see Torquay with its views of Torbay becoming a very desireable place to live.

Torquay seafront is beautiful and has many great places to eat and drink. The town is a bit disappointing and the harbour area is a nightmare for traffic at the time of our visit due extremely long delays caused by work being carried out to improve it.

There is nothing negative that I can say about the Headland Hotel. Superb location. Single room with sea views. A comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean bathroom. The facilities of the room fulfilled all my requirements. Staff were pleasant, friendly and looked after us well. I hope to return again in the future. A perfect stay for me and my family.

Torquay is a delicious, relaxing coastal city where you have the docks or the beach to enjoy sunshine. I was at the end of May and it didn't rain although the sun was missing at moments.
Guesthouses are a good option for accomodation.
There's places near the Visitor Centre and in front of the docks to buy souvenirs.
If you need to use the buses, and ask information to the drivers, be careful since some of them don't seem very eager to help you. The reality is you could walk easily along the beach and wouldn't need the buses.

A lovely place and a great area.
A lovely place and a great area. You can travel very easily from Torquay to rest of Torbay - especially Paignton and Brixham. Also Dartmouth is great and Dartmoor is also very close.
People are very helpful and welcoming.
Great beaches
Fabulous place for a family holiday
I needed a last minute hotel room for a night out in Torquay. This hotel was over £100 per night cheaper than the next cheapest option. It is definitely "no frills", but was clean and the bed was very comfy, and it didn't matter that I came back to the room in the wee early hours. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing hotel but it certainly did the job and I'm grateful to have found somewhere so reasonable.
Having stayed here a number of times before we knew of its excellent value. It is one of the most inexpensive hotels in which to stay, but our price included delicious breakfasts and evening meals all to buffet style (which we prefer) offered by friendly, helpful staff. Unless you are looking for 5 star luxury, then we would thoroughly recommend the Trecarn for the best value in the Torquay area.
We liked were we were as we can get the train and go every were we wanted and travel back right out side the hotel . It was nice to just walk to town and enjoy the view's plus plenty of cafes restaurant ect . The staff in hotel were so good dawn in reception was so nice friendly . And helped in every way . The rooms were so clean so we'll done to cleaning staff . We would recommend staying

Karen was an excellent hostess, nothing was too much trouble. Karen paid attention to detail, beautifully arranged towels, chocolates on the bed, an assortment of accessories and a beautifully clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was amazing and Karen cooked to order exactly how you requested. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again when in Torquay.
The hotel is the best we have stayed in in Torquay, we travel here at least once every 6/8 weeks to visit family.

Well done everyone here, look forward to seeing you again soon.
The location was ideal for our stopover on the way to the ferry at Plymouth. The hotel is in a good location for visiting the town and seafront at Torquay. Lots of restaurants so a good choice of food. The breakfast in the hotel was very good with a good selection of options for everyone.
We will definitely stay here again on our way to Spain.
