Old Hall Hotel, hotel in Tideswell

In the centre of picturesque Buxton, in the heart of the beautiful Peak District, the Old Hall Hotel features a traditional restaurant, free Wi-Fi and spacious rooms with period features.

Breakfast fantastic, location of hotel excellent. We have stayed several times over the last few years and have noticed that the property has got a little tired and the cleanliness not quite as good as it used to be. There was no frosted glass in the bathroom or an extractor fan. The net curtains needed a good wash. Really do like the hotel shame to see it fraying a bit round the edges. Staff always friendly.

Great location to get to some great hiking spots without spending too much time on the road. We visited the Ladybower Reservoir, Cave Dale, Mam Tor, the Monsal Trail and other places. Elliots fish and chip shop makes a visit to Tideswell worth it on its own and The Merchants Yard has an excellent restaurant and is a great place to stay.

Tideswell is in a great location within the Peak District. The village seems to be a thriving community and there are plenty of walks from it without needing to jump in the car. It's a 20 minute drive to Chatsworth and same or less to Castleton.

Tideswell is a convenient village for visiting Buxton, Bakewell and the Monsal trail in the Peak District. It has 3 pubs within the village that all serve food, plus an Italien restaurant, a fish and chip shop and a local convenience store. The eateries get very busy in the evening so it's probably best to pre book. There are plenty of pubs in surrounding villages. You probably need a car to get there, we did not use public transport. There is a lovely church known as the Cathedral of the Peaks.

Perfect location in the centre of Tideswell, a lovely little village and perfectly located for exploring the white peaks area. Lovely room, on the ground floor and near reception so we were a little worried about noise but actually it was fine. Very comfy bed, luxurious bathroom, nice and spacious with high ceilings. Staff were all delightful, very friendly and helpful.
