Absolutely beautiful property, the apartments were just perfect for our big family group for a local wedding. There is a lovely outside space for everyone to gather, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming! Each apartment had a selection of breakfast items which was a lovely touch. Perfectly located in the beautiful village of Bilbrough. We were guests at a family wedding at The Norman’s and this property is literally a 3 minute drive from there so was perfect for us. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage and both bedrooms had en suites with showers and one with shower and a bath. This was amazing for us with 5 staying in the property. So there was no waiting to use the bathroom to get ready! Perfect! Jackie was extremely helpful from the day of booking to checkout, always contactable and responds really quickly. We were able to add on an extra guest, literally hours before we arrived, which was really appreciated at such short notice. We didn’t take our dog as we was there for a wedding, however the location is perfect for beautiful walks, I wish I had my dog with me… as the cottage allows for dogs also.

We could only manage 2 nights as this was the 1st time the children had been away with us without their parents. There is so much to see and do in the area. However, the short duration is an excuse to return.
Your staff. As regular hotel guests. From five star opulence to travel lodges. We received the highest level of customer care. Amanda was incredibly helpful and considerate , this lady is absolutely in the right job. The Spa staff again so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Your staff are on a mission to make your guests get the most from their stay at every level. Exceeded our expectations. We will be back that guaranteed. Close to A1M though a bit farther out of York than we wanted but a straightforward 20m drive there almost direct to a car park. Could have used convenient park and ride. Lovely welcome by owners. Super interesting history, people and grounds. Lovely traditional house, room and breakfast. Hosts offered tea/coffee & cake when we arrived and when we came in the next night at 'no added charge'. It's also nice & close to Tadcaster which is great for John Smith fans!!
A lovely two day stay at the Old Presbytery Guest House . Christine and Chris were wonderful hosts and helped to make our short break in Barkston Ash really enjoyable. The cooked breakfasts were superb , probably the best we’ve had in a B&B or Hotel .

The Jackdaw owners are amazingly friendly and helpful. There were ample food supplies left ready for us which was an unexpected bonus. Great place to go if you have small kids. Tadcaster is closed on a Monday and most of Tuesday as well so expect to have to travel out of town if dinning out.
I love the Hotel, the grounds, the exceptional staff team, the food and amazing service! I would like to also especially thank Sarah and Emma for our wonderful stay, our guests really enjoyed everything and were very happy and surprised at ambiance and beautiful castle.

The hotel has beautiful grounds and has made clever use of the original building.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food and wine selections were excellent
It used to be a castle so there are aspects of the property that the current hotel has not negatively influenced and is still interesting such as the graveyard.
