very clean and lovely decorated. I like all the extras, nice shampoo, soap etc... in the bathroom and the dressing gown! I also love having Netflix on the TV!

A good old fashioned hotel that was looking a bit tired, nevertheless the bed was comfortable and clean with a rather small screen tv. There was a sea view of sorts though as we were only staying one night, it didn't really matter. The breakfast was very good with a variety of cereals and yogurts. The cooked option was well presented with the eggs done to perfection.

The property was full of character and lots of quirky features. We had a balcony that overlooked the garden which was well maintained and included an outside bar. the staff were very friendly and accommodated our request for an early check in so that we could get changed before attending a wedding. Breakfast was great with good quality products.
The car park included electric charge points for those guests who needed it.

I only used the hotel as I only wanted an overnight stay. I had a 4hr drive to attend a reunion in Brighton, and a similar distance to drive the following day.
Did not explore Steyning as being a local, born in Brighton, already knew the charm and attraction of the old country town.

Steyning High Street was an unexpected bonus.
Steyning High Street was an unexpected bonus. There are loads of small independent shops and cafes. Really lovely architecture, perfect village! Unfortunately the weather was not suitable for us to take advantage of the surrounding countryside.

As we only used it as a base for visiting Brighton, seven sisters, cissbury ring and Eastbourne, all that I can say is that it was easy to access from a main road and nice and quiet. I would visit again if we are going to the same area.

Steyning is a small village with a hotel and 2 restaurants...
Steyning is a small village with a hotel and 2 restaurants and lots of private residences. Houses have typical English gardens and it is very quiet. But there is not much to do and there is not one store. It is not worth the trip. But, staff at the Castle Inn Hotel are exceedingly nice. Breakfast is quite good and varied, served between 7-9AM and there is free coffee and water throughout the day. The Hotel also has table on an outside patio, and a room for disabled with wider space between the bed and the cupboards. If you want to go to Steyning make sure you land at Gatwick. A cab will cost you 75 pounds pr you can take a train and then a cab (18 pounds). Either way it will take you 40 minutes from Gatwick to Steyning. There are two restaurants only (Chineese and Indian) opening at night only.
Lovely room with nice little touches like fresh milk in the fridge, and cookies and sweets.
Excellent breakfast choices, served in the garden. The garden and pool areas were a real surprise even if we didn’t stay long enough to take advantage of them.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We booked at a couple of hours notice when our original booking at another hotel was cancelled due to a Covid infection - our good luck in the end.
Highly recommended.
Breakfast was at a level of five star hotel! My wife has quite severe mobility issues but was able to manage the stairs without too much difficulty. Diana was everything you could want from a hostess - helpful, kind , understanding and thoughtful. There are not many B&B in Steyning but Uppingham is a star in a dark night! And at £95.00 for a double room / night, this was a bargain.
I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough.
We came to Steyning to attend a special event with friends. As it could be a late finish on a Sunday evening, we looked for a nice place to stay. This was perfect. Convenient location, very friendly and helpful host, clean room with very comfortable bed (hurrah) and a delicious breakfast. We would choose to stay here again, when in this part of West Sussex. Very happy to highly recommend Uppingham to other guests.
Incredibly nice staff. Very accommodating and welcoming. Great internet access. Good common areas where we were able to work during the day. Located close to an Indian restaurant and a Chinese restaurant where it is easy to get some take away food. Not very expensive for UK standards.
The staff are super nice and helpful and friendly. We booked several rooms with my parents and my friends and myself, I stayed for one night, the rooms are clean and tidy. Breakfast is great with a lot of choices and everything is yummy. It is literally the best hotel in Steyning.
The cozy hotel in the old town is a nice place to stay if you’re looking for a warm atmosphere. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hotel is located in the old town, which is a great place to explore. There’s even a free museum, cafe, pub and restaraunt close by!
The property was classic and lovely. It was very cosy and had a lot of character to it. Which was fitting for the location within Steyning. Our room was absolutely amazing and again, really cosy, which we were upgraded to by the lovely owner of the house.
I loved it all...I felt like I was staying in someone's guest room vs a hotel. Patricia, Natalia &, John were especially gracious...and the both ladies on the room changing team my last morning were very nice. (Didn't catch their names.)
The Staff are very friendly and helpful, lovely clean and airy room ,very comfortable bed slept very well , realy enjoyed a good breakfast.
Beautiful location ,I will be returning The Castle Inn hotel is a real gem .
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Great breakfasts. Location excellent in a small village in the South Downs and close to Brighton. Very English if your from afar and want to see a traditional English place
A popular hotel in the area, it was great to stay here as a group of friends for a wedding near by. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the beer garden in the summer was a bonus.
The little village is beautiful; the hotel was perfect for walking. Everyone was so helpful with anything we asked. Breakfast was perfect; dinner super nice; drinks and bar enjoyable.
In parts the hotel building is over 500 years old, which certainly lent a pleasant atmosphere. Located in a quiet village close to Brighton, it was an excellent place to stay.
Room spacious enough and clean, it has all you need, Big flat tv, good parking facilities, well heated bathroom. The hotel It self I would use it again.
