The Alma Inn, hotel in Sowerby Bridge

Set 8.4 km from Victoria Theatre, The Alma Inn offers 3-star accommodation in Sowerby Bridge and features a garden, a terrace and a bar.

Stunning location, overlooking the moors. The evening meal was superb, as was breakfast. The menu for both was very good. Lovely, friendly staff. We had a comfortable, dog friendly room, which was tastefully decorated. Very good value for money.I Set in a beautiful area that we are keen to go back and explore - staying at The Alma, of course!

Bowie's Abode, hotel in Sowerby Bridge

Offering a garden and garden view, Bowie's Abode is situated in Sowerby Bridge, 29 km from White Rose Shopping Centre and 30 km from Trinity Leeds.

We loved the location and how quiet it was. The accommodation had everything we needed, although we didn't do any cooking. Some information on how to get onto the canal would have been helpful.

The New Rushcart Inn & Country Dining, hotel in Sowerby Bridge

The New Rushcart Inn & Country Dining is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Sowerby Bridge, where guests can make the most of its terrace and bar.

We visited Piece Hall in Halifax and wanted to stay somewhere reasonably local but with a bit of character. We chose The New Rushcart Inn & Country Dining - Absolutely no regrets. Friendly staff, good food, waitress was really nice and attentive, great beer, really nice room (we stayed in room 3) Everything spotlessly clean, really nice breakfast, also loved the stained glass window in the bar area.

The outside looks nice, it’s in a perfect position opposite the station. The bed was comfy and it was quiet. I slept well. The shower was powerful and excellent.

Pennine Manor Hotel, hotel in Sowerby Bridge

The friendly Pennine Manor offers free Wi-Fi, good food and free parking, with panoramic views of the Yorkshire countryside. The M62 is a 5-minute drive away.

All friendly people the superior room was great and got the breakfast and dinner included which was a bargain. The walks would be fantastic except for the rain but the views are worth this with the relaxation being out of town

I love this area but there again, I'm biased as I was brought up here. Sowerby Bridge is gritty and unpretentious and the surrounding scenery is just stunning. It has some good pubs and eateries - have a look at the area down by Moorings - and it's only a few minutes by rail into Halifax or half an hour in the other direction to Hebden Bridge. The train trip is worth it for the lovely scenic journey though the Calder Valley alone. (You might recognise Sowerby Bridge railway station and its environs from Series 2 of Happy Valley)

It is a lovely area but I do not recommend the town itself to stay in - there are nicer villages/towns in the area and places on the hills above the town which would appeal to people more. No great restaurants as far as I could see or experienced. A slight air of decay/poverty is prevalent.

If you like industrial heritage and don't need to be told what your looking at SB is very interesting. We can also recommend both the Moorings pub for food and The Puzzle Hall Inn for beer and live music. If you like walking and steep hills, Norland opposite SB is for you

Wouldn’t go especially into Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge much nicer. Although a bit of a drive Harewood House a must, and a trip to Harrogate and Bettys for afternoon tea, expensive, but a great experience..

Most of the 'tourist' interest is near the canal basin and locks. The rest is a fairly utilitarian town, but close to outstandingly beautiful countryside. We missed the annual Rushcart Festival, but it looks as if it would be a good time to visit.

Unfortunately the hotel decided to cancel our booking on route to facilitate guests that arrived earlier! I booked this a a xmas present...we luckily found somewhere else...by good luck. This nearly spoilt a gig we had planned almost six months in advance over an hour drive from our address Poor service i am afraid.

We hiked overnight from Edale to Hebden Bridge, we finished a lot earlier than expected and had nothing to do. We arrived at the hotel and explained we were dirty and tired. The guy on reception (sorry can't remember his name) got our room ready just after 11:30am. Brilliant service, thank you so much.

Great hotel. Lovely staff. Fantastic home cooked food. Great selection of beers on tap. Country retreat but very quickly and cheaply into Sowerby Bridge or Halifax by Taxi. Great place to stay if going to gigs at The Piece Hall and such a bargain. Highly recommended.

The room was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The manager and staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay such a good experience. He even gave us a lift to the train station after breakfast. Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

I didn't have breakfast. The staff were super friendly & helpful & we had a laugh with some friendly regulars & locals. The decor & fittings/furniture etc were top notch 👌 loved it that we could open the window...you can't do that in most hotels these days
