A lovely historic town, with great shopping . Everyone in shops we went into were very welcoming and helpful, but not pushy. A very pleasant experience. The area around is lovely with great pubs to eat in.
Canal trip was beyond helpful, especially as I am disabled. We were late & they picked us up from hotel along the canal, bless them!, plus a lovely lady with a delicious tea.

Skipton deservedly is a popular tourist destination.
Skipton deservedly is a popular tourist destination. A lovely town with a lots of heritage, a canal and lots of independent shops and a market to browse. The Castle is well worth a visit as are the canal boat trips, especially if you choose a dining experience - afternoon tea or Friday Fish and chip cruise. We ;love Skipton for the friendly atmosphere - you can see why it is regularly voted one of the best places to live. There are lots of pubs, many serving very good food, plenty of venues with live music on over the weekend and a variety of restaurants serving great food, with a range from Turkish to traditional Yorkshire fayre. Skipton is also a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales - Embassy with it's steam train, Bolton Abbey, or walking or cycling.

Skipton is the gateway to the dales and an excellent location with lots of restaurants to choose from.
The Herriot Hotel we stayed in offered excellent service and has lots of character.
Ther are no lifts but that is to be expected with a Hotel of this age. If we come back to the dales we will happily stay here again.

Skipton is lovely.
Skipton is lovely. We were first time visitors and stayed 2 nights. We went to the castle, had afternoon tea on a canal trip, walked through the woods and along the towpath, browsed the pretty independent shops and street market. It is scenic and attractive.
The hotel was a gem of a find. When booking we didn't know what to expect but it was excellent, from arrival to leaving. Extremely clean and the host was very friendly, informative, and assisted us with our needs. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed included. Parking at the rear, which was off the main road. The breakfast was amazing and had a great level of choice. If we ever need a place to stay in Skipton, we will definitely check the availability of Dalesgate Lodge first. I would highly recommend staying here.
Excellent room, quiet, clean, with excellent walk in shower/ wet room. TV and wifi very good. Ist & 2nd floor served by an idiosyncratic lift. which was fine for us as my wife is not too good with stairs. Breakfast was excellent, very good choice of cooked or cereals etc. We dined in the hotel one evening, very good meal. Hotel is opposite Skipton station, which is handy for a trip on the Settle - Carlisle Railway
The house was immaculate, clean and tidy and had everything you need. It was very much a home from home. It was a 20min walk into Skipton town which was perfect.
Amy was very helpful on arrival as my signal hadn't allowed out entry details to come through. I phone as we arrived and she sent everything by text.
Definitely will book again if we take another trip to Skipton.
The fact that parking was available for free, although away from the hotel. Ideally placed for a couple of days exploring Skipton. The staff were friendly and breakfast well cooked. Wasn't sure about having it in our room, but the 4 of us were able to all eat together in our room.
Really loved the Odessey shower gel & soap in the bathroom from Out of Eden
Very pleasant to have breakfast in the conservatory with good view of canal and countryside. Good choice of items although the black pudding was hard. The room was comfortable, not too noisy and had lightproof curtains. The hotel was in a good location, with free adjacent car park and Skipton only a mile away via a short walk along the canal towpath.
We wished to visit the skipton Village on a leisurely trip.
A mini break to recharge. We went on walks on canal, boat trips , we saw the local market and the Gala.
The location was perfect and we received excellent service from the hotel.
Help with bags ,information on the local attractions.
We will visit again
The room was beautiful. It was so cozy and beautifully decorated. Perfectly cleaned and tidied daily.
Debbie was a lovely host.
The hotel was in prime position just a w minute walk from town where there's plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops.
We'll definitely be staying again during our next trip to Skipton
Fantastic hotel with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Great staff and lovely food freshly prepared made for a really enjoyable stay. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the place has relaxed laid back feeling which just adds to this gem of a property. We wouldn't hesitate to book again, first class.
Lovely entrance hall very quirky which we love fresh flowers from the garden very welcoming.
Room was decorated to a high standard
Comfy bed with quality linen.
Hotel next door serving amazing food
Very good location quiet yet short walk to centre of Skipton
This is a lovely property with stunning views and very spacious ,the welcome basket was a nice touch but problems with the shower in the main bathroom that’s been like a couple of years according to the comments book ,
needs sorting !!!
Although B&B owners did not live on site very private like having an apartment with the luxury of having a lovely breakfast cooked for you. Very quiet and comfortable space next to a really good pub with excellent food.
It was very clean & right in the town with parking. little fridge in the room with some drinks etc inside it. The breakfast was really nice & made for the time you wanted it.
Perfect location for a day/night out in Skipton. Breakfast wasn't included so nipped across the road to Weatherspoons. Lots of cafes nearby if a pub isn't for you.
