Very friendly and welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast with a lovely view was superb. Even though we didn't have a dog with us it was no problem being a pet friendly hotel. Our room was a bit up and down stairs which was fine for us.

The old village is the part of shanklin that should be viusited, some lovely bars (can recommend Harrys bar 100%) and the sea fron is also worth a mention for the eateries and view.
The town itself is charity shop and takeaway heavy withi very little to do or see.

A quaint and pretty ‘old’ village with thatched rooves and a beautiful sandy beach with amusements and attractions i.e crazy golf. Had a fabulous meal at Tommy Bradshaw’s before our visit to the Shanklin Theatre and they give you a discount because you have tickets to see a show!

The Chine is worth a visit!
The Chine is worth a visit! The ticket gives unlimited access for seven days. We took advantage of this and visited on three occasisons from top to bottom, and then in reverse! We were there mid may, and the Chine closed at 9pm, so it was too light for the illuminations to be seen at their best. But it was still a pleasant walk. Public transport is excellent from Shanklin and all the drivers we encountered were very friendly and helpful! We only had time for a brief exploration of the coastal paths, but the views are stunning!

It depends on what you like.
It depends on what you like. For me it is a typical Victorian seaside town, and the types of facilities on the seafront reflect this. Certainly it has much of what a family is looking for regarding entertainment, although some of the hotels did appear a bit run down. From a walking viewpoint it is lovely, although less mobile visitors may find some of the inclines a bit challenging!

A steep walk down to the Promenade which is clean and flat.
A steep walk down to the Promenade which is clean and flat. There is a good clean beach and amusements for children. Lift up and down to the promenade during the day . The old part of the town was worth a visit. Good place to eat with home cooked food and owned by the same family for over 30 years was The village Inn. Town centre a bit run down and typical of seaside town. Lots of pensioners on coach party holidays. Thorougly enjoyed Osborne House , weather permitting you could spend the day there. Due to the cost of the car ferry we will probably not visit the Isle again.
The owners (Pete and Warren) think about the guests, and I could see that in everything - the house, room, services, and breakfast. They were very caring, friendly, and kind and made me feel at home. My dog was very excited and noisy in the breakfast room, had a toilet accident, and got sick, but they were very understanding. Not many places allow dogs in the eating area, so it was nice. The room was super clean and comfortable, I definitely come back for my next visit to IoW!
Beautiful setting, beautiful old building, close to everything in Shanklin. Beautifully landscaped garden with gate leading to a park across the street and the beach down the street. Shanklin Chine and beautiful tea rooms and restaurants are easy walk as well. Breakfast was great. Wendy was a wonderful host - very friendly and helpful.
Excellent location with amazing sea view from the window of our room. Easily walkable from Shanklin railway station or nearest bus stops. Leslie and Bennie were great hosts and even allowed us to stay till afternoon on the day of the checkout as that room was not booked for the night. Breakfast was adequate and rooms were very clean.
Breakfast was lovely, great choice and waitresses were friendly and helpful. The room was cosy and welcoming, bathroom was a bit small but didn’t worry us at all. IOW is very hilly, so walking was hard for us unfit oldies, but views are spectacular. Shanklin esplanade is beautiful, a trip back to the old days.
Staff were warm, engaging and helpful, sea views and room fantastic, hotel a ‘beacon’ on the IoW for having a modern and functional EV 7kw car charger, great choice of food for breakfasts in the restaurant and the building itself has great space and style and is well maintained while keeping its period feel.
Very nice view! Short walk to the beach, Shanklin Chine, old village, places to eat and shops. Staff was friendly, helpful, tentative & accommodating. Good breakfast. Free onsite parking. Pet friendly. Indoor swimming pool. Overall, it was a good stay.
The hotel staff in whatever category, reception, restaurant, bar and housekeeping were extremely friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel overlooking the sea was exceptional. The breadfast facilities catered for every taste.
Friendly owners who would do anything you asked. Great choice of breakfast cereals and cooked breakfast. Very good location for access to old village and also the footpath to the seafront. Good sized room with clean bathroom.
Lovely room with sea view, very clean. Modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice of fresh fruit. Great location close to Shanklin old village. Very friendly and efficient staff and great facilities.
