The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was brilliant with loads of options, hot and cold. And the location is perfect, close enough to everything you can walk everywhere but not so close that you get a lot of traffic or pub noise.

Breakfast was okay
The hotel is very tired and in need of a lot of TLC - staff were very pleasant especially Sharon in the lounge bar
I wouldn't return to this hotel at all - we were allocated room 0005 and could not find it
The lifts to the -rooms were not working and stairs had to be used but we were unable as my friend is bad on her legs
We were given a room on the 5th floor but she could not use shower as she is unable to climb into the bath
it really needs a lot of work

Scarborough is a very interesting town with two good beaches. there is a harbour, castle ruins & church. Lots of attractions by the sea front, a beautiful park & the surrounding countryside is gorgeous.
I enjoyed seeing impressive architecture on some of the older buildings & walking along Marine drive reading lots of information plaques along the way. We were even able to enjoy watching a porpoise out at sea & chat to some friendly, helpful local residents.

Scarborough offers lots of different activities depending on your own interests. We love walking, on the headland, beaches, gardens! Fish and chips to die for and lots of historical places to explore Captain Cook and Ann Brontë. Whitby offers Dracula fans a real treat and the most dramatic coastal views!!!

Scarborough is a lovely seaside resort, not too many...
Scarborough is a lovely seaside resort, not too many amusements, we found quality restaurants, quality bars and even slightly out of season, still had lots of atmosphere.
The history of the town still remains, and there are interesting places to visit, it is also quite a pretty resort.
It's the first time we have stayed at the Royal,0 and we only went room only, so cannot gage on food etc ..but the room was very good and clean ...access was excellent ..it was right in the place we needed it...just over the road to the lift down to the coastline, and round the corner for the high street...I have mobility issues, and was very happy I was on relatively flat areas wherever I wanted to go to outside.. so I will definitely book the Royal Hotel again when we come to Scarborough.
We took the 'Family Room with Sea View and No Extra Bed' option, which was the dearest choice though still not expensive. It gave us a huge, bright bedroom with sofa, armchairs, table and very comfortable king-size bed, plus a sizable bathroom and a lovely view across the pretty public gardens of the Crescent to the sea. The hotel's situation, in one of Scarborough's best mid-Victorian terraces, central but secluded, is excellent. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful.
Made to feel welcome as soon as you arrived.
Fab hosts.Rooms clean all amenities needed as a family room .Amazing views onto the Scarborough Cricket pitch ,A seperate communal balcony to sit relax and watch the cricketers if so desired.
Great choice of freshly made breakfast ,included in the price.Waitress service.lovely staff.
Beds were comfortable
We highly recommend thus hotel.
Very convenient location to Scarborough town centre. Plenty of paid parking options nearby. Probably one of best views in Scarborough if the hotel was cared for but the windows are full of bird poo so slightly ruins what’s could be a gem. Stunning architecture and you can see the history but again not looked after.
The hotel is situated in Scarborough town centre very near the shopping centre, restaurants etc. It also had easy access to the beach. Breakfast was superb
