Sandwich is loaded with history and a past that bears investigation. We were there during the 80th D-day celebrations. We felt the ambience and beauty of an English town steeped in layers to explore.
We took a leisurely stroll in the evening around the town walls and read the information on the information boards along that route. It gave a true picture of how much the town had contributed to the development of the are over time. We would like to have stayed a little longer.

Sandwich is a sleepy town, full of narrow streets and a picturesque river side. There is plenty to see, quaint shops and lovely pubs. We went out of season so it was quiet and easy to get around. Summer might be a bit different. We had lunch in The Sandwich Bakery Company, which is family run and welcoming and dinner at the Crispin Inn…great steak and lovely staff.

Sandwich is a beautiful town with a long history and a plethora of historic buildings, squares and narrow streets. You can also walk along the river and around the town walls.
There are a number of bars and individual restaurants--try the Toll House--smokehouse and grill and as a coffee and deli-the No-name Cafe.
Easy to spend a couple of days here and convenient location for exploring other towns such as Deal, Margate and Ramsgate.

A lovely little town, with lots of interesting history, streets, pubs & restaurants. Great walks & plenty to keep you interested. Local buses to Dover, Ramsgate etc. Not very frequent & didn´t run after about 18.00 hours but if you planned well, it worked. There is a train station as well but we didn´t use that.

We booked a walking tour of Sandwich with the local history society before we went and thoroughly enjoyed it. The museum is not big but has very interesting display cases. We had trips out to Richborough Roman fort and a boat trip to see seals - and they obliged.
There are several places in Sandwich for lunches and dinners. Ver interesting place to visit.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, especially Katy who was epitomised customer service on our arrival. The room was lovely - spacious and airy; there was a great welcome basket; the bed linen was spotless with plenty of pillows; a fan/hairdryer/ironing board and iron were supplied in the room; the shower pressure was good, and the towels were fluffy. The hotel is right in the heart of Sandwich, perfectly placed and just a few minutes from all the interesting sights of the town.
Stayed for 3 nights with my mum and daughter. Such good value for money, refills of plenty of milk and biscuits each morning, iron and ironing board, hair dryer all of which some pricier hotels don't do and we travel alot. Beautiful breakfast each morning. Lovely clean rooms. Staff very accommodating.
Car park at Guildhall 2 mins walk, 9.30 for 24 hours. Check-in dine via message pre-arrival saves time on the day. Great central location, surrounded by cafes and pubs too.
This Bed & Breakfast was everything a bed & breakfast should be! A very cute and quirky historical home that has been renovated with new bathrooms and showers, the beds were nice and comfy, and the location was truly amazing right next to the gorgeous St. Peters Church. The town of Sandwich is a dream to visit -- what a treat! Marisol cooked up a full English breakfast for us each day with all the trimmings, which was super fun for us as American tourists.
We decided last minute to extend our stay in Sandwich and chose this wonderful bnb. It was our first bnb experience and the hosts were ever so kind, welcoming and attentive. We really felt at home, the building was absolutely beautiful. We were kindly offered the most lovely big breakfast, and we loved the little additional touches such as fresh milk in our room for our tea and coffee. We will without a doubt be back again and cannot wait.
Very comfortable bed. Our room had proper disabled facilities, including retractable bars by the WC. Nice quiet area. Superb breakfasts. Welcoming and helpful hosts. Good parking. Ideal for relaxing stay. Good village central location for visiting Sandwich, Dover, Ramsgate etc and sights of interest, many well-preserved historical, of the region.
Best location for Sandwich lovely views, breakfast is super tasty nice variety, our room had a stunning view from the balcony perfect for those summer mornings!
We also hired some bikes at Battershcang which was only a 7 minute drive from the hotel, its massive me and my partner had lots of fun riding around, would make a great group day out.
I stayed in a Garden view room, in an outside lodge block with own door access and outside seating, safe and secure parking, huge comfortable bed and roomy modern shower. Helpful and friendly staff who engaged in conversation and gave me some great local tips and handy advice for accessing nearby Canterbury. A fabulous country hotel.
Amazing place to stay, right in the centre of Sandwich - lots of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Very comfortable and spacious barge with all the facilities you could need. Great communication from the owners and we were met in person and given a full tour with everything explained. Secure parking nearby too.
Everything was excellent with our stay at The Kings Arms Hotel. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and clean (we had two doubles and one single). The food was so good too. Such good value for money, with the rooms with breakfast and lunch and dinner there. We will definitely be returning.
Everything...ideal location for Cambridge and around the Kent coast, the food in the bistro was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The en suite room we had was spacious with a large comfy bed, tea and coffee and a mini fridge. Would definitely recommend staying.
The central location was ideal, very close to an excellent choice of restaurants and pubs. Parking at the property was a real bonus, Steve, the host, was friendly and helpful and the apartment was immaculate, comfortable and well equipped.
This is a wonderful B and B with charming and very helpful hosts. They went out of their way to help me and I'd certainly like to stay with them again.
Sandwich is a lovely town too; very charming and atmospheric.
Great breakfast. Good pub food. Very helpful, welcoming, helpful staff, live music/good playlists. Music/Cinema posters. Watching England’s women football team make history with enthusiastic locals.
Great location, comfortable room, good breakfast. Provided everything we needed for a short stay in Sandwich. Welcoming, friendly and helpful host. Good to be able to sit and relax in the garden.
Old fashioned charm. Traditional furniture in the hotel room. Good breakfast. The food in the restaurant is very good, it's popular with the locals so book a table at busy times.
