The Swan Inn, hotel in Prestbury

Set in Highpeak Junction, 14 km from Buxton Opera House, The Swan Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Excellent food, lots of fish on the menu. I think the chef is the owner - real attention to detail, pride in the dishes, very professionally run kitchen, excellent breakfast too. Interesting dishes, perfectly cooked. Restaurant is very, very popular, only 3 rooms so I suspect people come from miles around the quality is that good. Friendly staff - on the ball, sharp. The room was large and clean, modern decoration, comfy bed, excellent lighting for putting on makeup. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights.

We didn't get much chance to explore but it seems obvious there are countryside walks along the Bollin river. There was a new woodfire Pizza restaurent which smelled delicious and the estate agent's windows were enticing with mansions out of realistic price-range!

Prestbury is a lovely vibrant small village with 2 very old and very nice pubs. There are also plenty of high quality cafes, bars and restaurants. There are several shops including a chemists, a small supermarket, a dress shop and flower shop. Everything a small village needs. St Peters church is in the main street and the railway station is approximately a 10 minute walk from the centre of the village. We had an evening meal at Bacchus in the centre of the village which was really good. Nice atmosphere, excellent food and very friendly staff. Prestbury has a bus service and is not far away from Macclesfield, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Poynton.

I really enjoyed our one night stay at the Bridge.

I really enjoyed our one night stay at the Bridge. We didn't have an evening meal there but will next time. Great service all round. Plenty of conveniently placed sockets for rechargers etc in bedroom. Our room was in the older part of the hotel which was very convenient for the restaurant etc but a bit chilly for my liking. My husband was ok with it though, so maybe just me. Entrance to car park is a little narrow and the car park spaces are quite short and it was virtually full when we came back after dinner c 10.00. Still wouldn't put me off coming again as I really enjoyed the luxury and good breakfast.
