Location - hotel overlooks a glorious beach. First floor room was good although in effect it overlooked a car park - but Poole Harbour was beyond this. View was therefore good! Spacious room with settee and arm chairs.
Breakfast was very satisfactory.
Dinner on two nights: first night was mixed. I had pizza - no major complaint. My wife had lasagne - not good at all. Microwaved. Dessert was not particularly memorable. Our second night choice was really good - we had sea food risotto. And no dessert.

The quay is lovely, with lots of good places to eat. If you're lucky you can park on the street for free, if not, the quay mulitstorey is reasonably priced.
It's 30 minutes from RSPB Arne, which we spent 3 days at & didn't manage to explore all of it.
You can walk to the quay to get the ferry to Brownsea to see the Red Squirrels, or go on other boat trips.
It's an hour from Portland Bill & Chesil beach

The really good thing about Rockley Park is that if you have a dog, which we did, then Ham Common is adjacent to the site so great for dog walks/exercise.
We didn't go into Poole this time but know from experience that Poole Quay gives you access to harbour trips and Brownsea Island.

The RNLI College location in Poole was amazing.
The RNLI College location in Poole was amazing. There is a lovely walk along the harbour with many places to eat or just have a coffee. We had a meal near the Old Customs House, with lovely views across the harbour.

We loved the Quay, we loved the Old Town, we loved going to Lulworth Cove, going to Swanage on the Steam Train, Corfe Castle, we did the lot. The only thing to be careful of is parking and parking fees. They are a huge expense. And one of our most favourite visit was the RNLI College. We have always supported them.

The Poole Quay area is absolutely stunning - so many places to eat and drink. The cruises run from the Quay are well worth trying as the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend the following - Brownsea Island visit, Jurassic Coastline cruise, and particularly the Sea Train Cruise (Sail to Swanage - then steam train ride to Corfe Castle)

The quayside was nice but there is a fairly rundown feel to the shopping areas. We had a lovely meal at Da Vinci's right on the water - service and food was great! Highly recommend. Went to Rockfish as well and the waitress there was super - bottomless chips!! We also visited Wesley's Community Cafe which we thought was a brilliant use of space and a great idea to take home to Australia.
The Holiday Inn Express Poole is convenient for the main town shops and station, being about a 10 minute walk from both; it's about a 15 minute walk to the very interesting Quays area. It's also a 5 minute walk to the bus station, which has a comprehensive network of routes, ideal if you want to catch the No. 60 bus to Sandbanks! The hotel staff, from reception to dining area, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, comfortable and was Covid appropriate.
Location location location..its everything with this hotel! Right on the beach.... cross the road from the car park and enjoy uninterrupted sunsets sat by Poole Harbour. Great breakfast and super helpful staff.
We asked for an early breakfast, which was supplied. The hotel was clean and well styled. Rooms were very comfortable and we were made to feel welcome. I would stay here again if travelling via Poole
