Have stayed here before. Service is good. Accessibility is good for my mum, food is good quality and we enjoyed that we weren't rushed for meal service etc. We love the outdoor area for sitting and having a cool drink on the warm afternoon

First trip to Paignton was 51 years ago, as a teenager my experience of Paignton was far different to those of the latest visit.
Being earlier in the year than my previous visit there fewer people about, but all the businesses were open.
Overall enjoyed our break and have booked to return for a long weekend later in the year.

I was amazed at the value of the £10.00 special offer meal which we had one evening at the hotel. The burger and chips were both very nice and plentiful. We ate in the hotel on two evenings and were happy with the food. Your cod and chips was cheaper than at the fish shop at the end of the pier!

Refer to my review of Marine Hotel.
Refer to my review of Marine Hotel. I stayed at Paignton because it was close to where I had been camping in the area. There is not much to the town, but it has a rail station and a big bus station and the longest beach in the area. All-day bars and casinos are not my thing, sorry. It does have an Italian and a Thai restaurant. Of the towns in the area, Totnes is both interesting and pleasant, Paignton is pleasant and convenient, Brixham is interesting, and Torquay none of those. Coast path for walks is patchy.

There are lovely walks along the seafront, a traditional pier, a harbour with good restaurants and the usual mix of seaside novelty shops and usual High Street retailers. Everywhere is very clean and there are well kept gardens set just back from the seafront.
Children were playing on the litter free beaches and no dogs are allowed on the beach from end May to end September.
The main railway line runs through the shopping area! but from both trains and bus station nearby give access to other areas ie the steam train/river cruise to Dartmouth and Paignton Zoo.

Paignton is a very clean resort with lots of enclosed litter bins. The esplanade and gardens were very well cared for. It has an old fashioned feel about the place and we enjoyed walks on the pier.

Easy transport access to trains buses and ferries to Torquay Brixham and beyond. Steam train attraction. Pretty harbour. Good restaurants. Scenic walks along the coast. The coastal walk to Brixham from Paignton is challenging. Theres a great splash park.Bike night on Wednesdays was a really great attraction. Didn't have time to do everything.
The breakfast was very nice, you could have a full English, or any combination.
The room and hotel were very clean. The room
overlooked Paignton sea front with a lovely view, it was plenty big enough and had everything we needed. The hotel is right by the sea front in an ideal position. It was very very busy on the Saturday we arrived, but you can escape the crowds by visiting the lovely quiet beach just around the corner. We enjoyed a meal at TJ's restaurant overlooking the sea on the terrace.
2nd visit for me and my 3 year old. The pool is fabulous, the rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff are super friendly. The breakfast is nice too, very accommodating of the 3 year olds fussy palette! Perfect base, next to the beach, close to shops and restaurants. I actively seek this hotel every time I look at going to Paignton, (which is only an hour on the train from my home so the stay isnt actually necessary) purely cos I like staying there! Will no doubt be back again.
Our stay here was made all the more pleasant by the brilliant staff. The hotel is full of traditional charm and is not only good value, it has quality well trained staff and good food. The car park on our visit was quiet and adequate as well as being free.
The restaurant has the best view in Paignton. We were given a room with a balcony overlooking the sea which was a bonus.
Don't just take my word, give it a try.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you needed for a short stay. Dave and Kelly were very friendly and helpful. Just a short walk into town and a perfect location as a base for exploring Devon. Parking on site. Dog friendly. We have a large dog and there was enough room for her in the apartment. Paignton itself is very dog friendly too. Excellent value for money.
It was a very lovely stay at the Mercure Paignton. The hotel is directly on the beach front. We had a very comfortable, spacious room, it was new and super clean, such a comfy bed, we had a great good night sleep in our room. Staff were really helpful and friendly. We enjoyed it very much and would definitely come back
Perfectly located for Goodrington and Paignton. It's on a steep road so be aware if this might be a problem for you. Room we were in was compact, as was the ensuite but it was just enough for a short stay. Breakfast was good with fruit, cereal, juice and a cooked choice. Owners were available without being intrusive.
Everything about the hotel was top rate, Paul and Hayley were very welcoming, friendly and informative. I booked after reading the reviews of this place and wasn't disappointed. Even the other guests were friendly to us, most were on a return holiday and some book every year. I will definitely be booking again.♥️
I've stayed in Paignton 5 times and this is the best guest house without a doubt.Lovely friendly down to earth owner/s.Room was comfy, warm and immaculate,Breakfast was perfect and catered for all tastes. If I ever stay in Paignton again one hundred percent will be here. Thanks for a great relaxing stay
Requesting refund. Hotel was unsafe. Filthy, smelt rooms and corridors, in all areas .
Daughter got stuck in broken lift that had no sign warning not to use. This traumatised her. Staff rude and unhelpful.
Had to find alternative accommodation. Very stressful and upset stay in Devon.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our room was cozy with a lovely comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and attentive. Entertainment was provided. The grounds were kept nice and we were able to sit outside and relax. The breakfast was good.
Breakfast was very good location fine we were able to ask for milk water and teabags we asked also for toilet rolls but felt this should have been replaced in our rooms because the hotel is closing in September I feel the owner has lost interest
Amazing stay with the wonderful Alan and Trish.
From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and we were upgraded to a seafront view.
The location is perfect and they helped us plan our weekend to ensure we got the most out of our 3 days.
Location a few hundred yards from paignton seafront promenade and the main shopping area, library rail and bus links. The hotel was super clean. Beautiful views across paignton seafront. Good value for money.
Loved the hotel was amazing, the staff were lovely. The room was bigger than I was expecting. The location was amazing first time going to Paignton and we will definitely be back and booking this hotel again.
The bed was so comfortable. The proprietor was such a sweet kind lady and so informative. Nice friendly run Hotel and very conveniently situated to Paignton and the train station.
.
The room was large. The cooked breakfast was good. The hotel is near the beach, the train station and the bus station which are ideal for taking a day trip to other towns.
staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was spotless. It is a lovely hotel , lots of character and a great place to have break away from all the hustle and bustle.
