We loved the room because it was modern and comfortable with loads of natural light and a balcony overlooking the river. A good coffee machine in the room with regular and decaf pods was a very welcome additional, along with a mini bar and snacks. Good road links to Ely and the Fens. The staff we extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel/pub/restaurant are smart and we loved the breakfast room, also overlooking the river. The bar area is really nice and it's a pity we weren't there for longer or on a warmer day because the outdoor areas are another really lovely feature.

A lovely little hotel within easy walking distance of the Cathedral and other sights. Real character and the garden is large and very restful. Breakfast was superb, with fresh and preserved fruits that made it a real treat.

We had to wait 1.5 hours outside to before someone came and let us in. When we actually got in after a really long day at work the rooms smelt of used chip fat and cooking from the restaurant below. We decided we would rather travel the 2 hours to get home that stay here.

Good location close to Both Ely and Cambridge. Good facilities
The Anchor is at Sutton Galt. It is a very rural setting but within 30 mins of many tourist attractions of historic interest. The point of our visit was to catch up with family and we had dinner in the Anchor restreraunt which has a very good reputation. The food was delicious and well priced

Highly recommended.
Highly recommended. This property in Haddenham village is spacious, cosy, steeped in history, well equipped, an easy home from home and relaxing retreat from normal life. Ideal owners - they live next door and are friendly, helpful and informative but not intrusive. The driveway is accessed straight off the A1123 in Haddenham village through a gate immediately next to the Old Porch House. From the parking it is a short walk across the patio and around the owner’s conservatory to the ‘secret’ back door entrance to the holiday cottage. Downstairs there is a well equipped kitchen and a large, quaint, cosy lounge with dining table and chairs, two lovely sofas, a massive fireplace, amazing brick floor, tv, board games, books, great WiFi etc etc. Two good bedrooms (all good comfortable beds and good bedding) and a lovely bathroom with bath and shower are accessed from the lounge via a steep narrow carpeted staircase with good handrail. Gently sloping floor in twin bedroom adds even more character to this historical home from home. Great double glazing eliminates any road noise. Outside, the huge and lovely garden with lawn, orchard, meadow, trees and sitting areas is ideal for relaxing, wandering and playing in. The area has much to offer with Cambridge, Ely and Newmarket close by and a day trip to the coast within an easy drive. We used the free parking at the park and ride car parks for no hassle access to the beautiful city of Cambridge. We enjoyed the local pubs and takeaways in Haddenham (1 mile), Sutton (2 miles), Earith (6 miles) and Mepal (5 miles) for evening meals after day trips out, though some days we simply relaxed in and around our home from home.
The hotel was absolutely gorgeous - pulling up to the hotel it didn’t look like much but once inside it was just lovely and the atmosphere in general compared to other hotels is just so welcoming and calm. The dinner here is great also! Friendly staff, especially Emily - she welcomed us at the start and catered for my needs(I have autism and they had a small birthday going on) so managed to sit us somewhere comfortable and quite for dinner. The room was stunning and the gardens were too.
