The Clive Arms, hotel in Ludlow

Just 7 minutes’ drive from the centre of Ludlow, The Clive Restaurant with Rooms offers luxurious accommodation alongside its award-winning restaurant.

The staff were outstanding, the hotel was beautiful and the location, on the outskirts of Ludlow, was perfect. As the weather was poor, the day after our family celebration, we were able to enjoy the experience of exploring the distillery, gift shop and fantastic cafe situated next door to the hotel. Lots of outside areas and play equipment for sunny days too.

A wonderful town, steeped in history.

A wonderful town, steeped in history. So many beautiful old buildings. A church (lots of interest there), a castle as well (lots to see there). Walks and trails. Markets and events. Friendly locals, everyone was very helpful and welcoming. We stayed a week and loved it. We would not hesitate to go back and stay there again. Plenty of places to eat.

Ludlow has quality historic quaintness, ease of access and movement - as it's on the top of the hill with little through traffic. Consequently it's great for browsing with lots of gems to discover, without the bustle. Eat out at a range of coffee shops / restaurants - our top choice was Kin Kitchen and Jup Jup Thai, but CSons down on the river is also a favourite because of walks up to the Castle or along the river paths.

We liked Ludlow but found it to be very hilly.

We liked Ludlow but found it to be very hilly. If you like walking & are fit & healthy it's a beautiful place to visit with plenty to see & do. However, if you're disabled you would definitely need a car to get around. We stayed in an absolutely beautiful garden house in Temeside, owned by Martin who came to meet you after you'd settled in. The garden house had everything you need for your stay. I was very surprised to find they supply just about everything you might need, from teabags, coffee, milk, sugar, breakfast cereal, to cleaning products like washing up liquid etc. There was shower gel etc in the bathroom. Parking in the town is quite good & there were plenty of disabled parking spaces allowing a maximum of 3 hours which is plenty of time to take a stroll around. There is a market on the town square on a Saturday & Sunday with a very good variety of just about everything. We found it to be a very friendly place & everyone was very helpful if you needed any assistance or advice about anything. I would recommend a visit. We ate in The Wheatchief pub & the food was very good. On a Sunday if you're looking for a nice Sunday Roast try Ye Olde Bull Ring Tavern booking recommended for all places to eat as they get booked up quickly especially on a weekend. The food was lovely & plentiful, I ordered an apple crumble with custard for dessert & couldn't believe my eyes when it came, it was more than enough to feed 4 people, they were very happy to supply a container to fill & take home. The only thing I would do differently is try to find somewhere closer to the town to stay but only because we're disabled otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Ludlow is a lovely town with the castle and Church in particular worth exploring. The riverside walks are also great and lots of places to eat and drink. The Charlton Arms served great food if a little pricey. Great old buildings and pubs. Small town so easy to get around on foot. There was a market in the square selling a wide range of goods.

Excellent location in the middle of Ludlow. This hotel has friendly and very helpful staff , well trained and happy to offer assistance. We had a deluxe room ( recommend ) which was reasonably spacious and had a beautiful bathroom . I think the ordinary rooms can be rather small. We met friends who also stayed there and had dinner in the hotel 2 out of 4 nights . Good food . Breakfast main was quite good

Great location about a 10 min uphill walk into Ludlow itself. Very peaceful. Nice views across to the castle from the hotel. Lovely outdoor space. It was very hot when we were there and they were able to provide us with a fan.
