The location was perfect to explore Lanchester. The room was amazing and so was the building. The lodge really has the wow factor. We stayed here for two nights - I stayed the night before my wedding and I couldn’t wish for better. The decor and facilities are incredible and the views from each window are dreamy. I was greeted from a member of staff who showed me around, was very friendly. The group are already talking about when to book again. Thanks for a very special stay, we would recommend you to anyone.

The Ball Alley, hotel in Leadgate

Located in Stanley, in a historic building, 3.2 km from Beamish Museum, The Ball Alley is a bed and breakfast with a garden and bar.

When we booked, we'd booked expecting cheap and cheerful, but the Ball Alley very much exceeded that. We had a very warm welcome by the bar staff when checking in. The room was clean and comfortable. The bar below was busy (on the Friday night we arrived) but in no way noisy. We bought some, very reasonably priced, drinks and sat outside in the large beer garden. Breakfast was superb - the owners know how to cook decent bacon! Again, a very warm welcome at breakfast and had a good chat about the area. We'd booked the two rooms that have a shared bathroom, i.e. no en-suite. That wasn't an issue for us as we were with family in the other room. Just to note, there are two very wide steps down from the bedrooms to the bathroom but there are hand-rails and the landing was lit all night, so this wasn't a problem. This B&B was in perfect location for us, not far from the A1 and only a few minutes drive from the Angel of the North. We're already considering staying here again in the near future when we have some non-UK friends staying with us and want them to experience a wonderful pub and B&B.

we loved our stay at the cottage, Charmian is a lovely host and so helpful. it is very dog friendly, with an enclosed garden. laurel cottage is very spacious and spotlessly clean, we had everything we needed for our stay and more. The Chinese restaurant opposite is amazing, and lanchester, 5 mins drive away has everything you could need for meals, dog walks or just a pop to the local shops, we have visited friends in the area twice a year for the last 15years so have stayed at a few places, but i would say that this is one of the best that we have stayed at and would defiantly love to stay again in the future.
