Littledean House Hotel, hotel in Lea

Littledean House is situated in the Forest of Dean, a 4-minute drive from Cinderford. It is a family-run hotel in a picturesque Gloucestershire location.

I had a lovely welcome upon arrival and the lady who checked me in was lovely and chatty and helpful in providing more information about food availability etc. I was then pleasantly surprised upon walking in to the room to find a nice sized room with a double bed - I thought I was only going to get a single one. The room was clean with everything I needed within it. The car park was also spacious and easy to find.

Three Choirs Vineyards, hotel in Lea

Set in Newent, 19 km from Kingsholm Stadium, Three Choirs Vineyards offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Location is within a working vineyard in a pretty bit of English countryside. Rooms are immaculate but the format is quite similar to a motel, with a strangely incoherent design philosophy - a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Food is pretty good. There's nothing to do unless you want to do the wine tasting at further expense.

It’s where I spent a lot of time as a teenager with my best friend who lived on the side of a hill just outside the village. Even taking into account the way times have changed since the early 70’s it a lovely local rural village. The main road through the village is busy now but I stayed in a quaint local haunted??? pub with the village stores opposite and a cheap petrol supply up the road. What more can you want? It is extremely quiet at night when the traffic stops and an excellent area to stay in if you want to explore the Wye or Severn Valley’s or the Forest of Dean. Gloucester is less than 20 miles away if you like Historic cities, Not quite like York but it was where Harry Potter had some if his adventures at the Cathedral. An excellent shopping centre if that’s your thing. You are unlikely to find the bright lights of Blackpool but there is plenty to do. Try the Railway Centre at Lydney or the views at Symonds Yat near Coleford. There’s a coal mine near Coleford which takes you under ground to see what mining was like over 100 years ago and Clearwell caves to explore. I sound like a tourist brochure but I can assure you I lived in the the Forest of Dean for the first 20 years of my life and in many ways it is still the place I remember except it is now much more up to date and not as far behind as is was back then. Try it out and enjoy a truly magical place to visit. It’s an area small enough to explore in a week or two but look out for the sheep, slow down and enjoy being away from the rat race.

Although drab and cluttered the room was very clean.

Although drab and cluttered the room was very clean. When we arrived the receptionist showed us to a room but before we entered it she thought it was not right yet so so showed us to another room which we spent the night. Room next to busy road which was noisy until after midnight. So had a bad nights sleep After we booked in and returned to reception found that the room had been doubled booked and had we been later then the chances are we would have not been staying at the hotel. Dissappointed when told they did not do a cooked breakfast (the highlight of any stay in a hotel) and what they offered was not appealing. When we got back to the hotel later that evening we were told that the we would not be charged for breakfast. But we had then made alternative arrangements

Loved the area.the dome was spotless. Took us a while to find the communal Wasing up area, a sign on the door would help! The dome was spotless, the outside kitchen ideal. Showers were part of individual bathrooms which were clean and hot! Definitely need a car and advised to research and book places to eat. Came from the area growing up, and many pubs have now closed. Will come back again for a chilled break.

Room was lovely, well decorated and in a lovely location in the field with a perfect view. Bathroom/shower rooms were also very nice, shower was lovely and hot, liked the idea of using tokens to stop using too much water. The bed was very comfortable, and sheets were clean. Had almost everything we needed, didn't try out the air conditioner but I feel it would definitely be needed on a hot day.

The cottage is immaculately presented, clean and comfortable. Welcome pack was a lovely surprise , generous and high quality. We felt like we were staying in a 5 star luxury hotel with lovely toiletries and thick, cosy bathrobes. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and at home , they had clearly thought carefully about all those little extras that guests appreciate.

Our second visit to this lovely little cottage! We love the beautiful village of Lea and the relaxing feel of the cottage. Lovely and clean, beds super comfy, hot tub and pool table are a hit with the kids. Lovely place to spend quality family time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! We will be back again next year! Thanks!

lovely cottage. Everything we needed. Only thing I would suggest is a runner in the bedroom as it leads to the top area of the garden and although our dog had very small paws it would be easier to keep clean. Not an issue as we used the one from the lounge. We had an amazing time and would definitely book again.
