Hedgefield House, hotel in Horsley

This stunning mansion set in 4 acres of award-winning gardens is situated on the edge of the Nothhumbrian countryside, yet only 10 minutes' drive from the Newcastle city centre.

A lovely warm welcome from Anthony and David. Super hosts. Had a lovely, large, well decorated room overlooking the rear garden. Bed was comfortable. Had a great nights sleep. Good supply of teas, coffees and milk. Shower was refreshing. Had a lovely walk around the grounds the next morning. Gorgeous setting away from the hussle and bustle but close enough to amenities.

We were in the area visiting family. The cottage was beautiful and cosy. A short walk to the Lion & Lamb pub which was fantastic. We had a family dinner there with 21 people and they were extremely accommodating and food was amazing. The cottage was extremely clean and location was perfect. We were happy to have a normal working TV with regular channels as other places we had stayed only had streaming channels. We loved everything about the cottage and would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends and family.

Tulip Cottage is surprisingly spacious, with fresh and very clean accommodation. There are limited facilities in Horsley and it does not take long to walk the length of it, but there are grocery shops only a five minute drive away in nearby villages. Food at the local pub, just a few mins walk away, was good and the service friendly. We used the cottage as a base to visit Beamish Museum and other attractions in the Newcastle and South Shields area, and its location made this quite easy. At the end of a busy day, we enjoyed dinner at the lovely big dining table before settling down in front of the log burning stove to play family games. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
