Bedroom was nicely decorated but it takes more than wallpaper to make a good hotel. Spa was nice but not included for guests and had to pay extra.
Situated just 5 minutes' drive from Heswall's town centre, the 19th century Thornton Manor - Holiday Cottages and Apartments is a stunning Grade-II Elizabethan country house.

The young girl at reception had a very friendly manner. Very helpful and informative. The breakfast was lovely although they did get orders mixed.

Very nice quaint village, that I remember going there when I was a child. Lots of lovely coffee shops and restaurants. Short drive from some of the most beautiful places on the Wirral, such as West Kirby, Parkgate and the Wirral Way.
We will have no hesitation on recommending this place to our friends and will hopefully be returning on our next trip to England.

Heswall is one of the main community/shopping centres on the Wirral Peninsula. Heswall alone - or indeed any of the other settlements on the Wirral - would not occupy most people long, or even for a short-stay. But, taken together, and being well-connected by road, rail and ferry to nearby Liverpool, Chester and rural north Wales, they offer a set of remarkably interesting and contrasting destinations for a week's stay - or even longer. The locations include contrasting landscapes and seascapes, to great ranges in wealth, architecture and lifestyles of communities, and similarly varied industries and histories, and places of interest.

Very central location with good amenities and easy access to other key towns and villages and the coast. So many options of things to do there and in the surrounding area. Lots of great places to eat. Has a train station.
The whole experience was excellent. The location is great for exploring the Wirral, lots of restaurants nearby, although the food was so good at The Jug that we ended up dining there 3 out of the 4 nights. Breakfast was delicious too. The room was immaculate and a joy to relax in. The staff were so welcoming and made you feel as relaxed as you would at home. Will be back.
we booked this beautiful hotel for our anniversary. We enjoyed every moment there. The room was massive and so comfortable. breakfast was delicious with a very wide selection of food amazing Staff, spa and swimming pool was lovely and very clean. location easy to find. Liverpool town not to far. overall enjoyable stay. highly recommended definitely be coming again.
I loved everything! I couldn’t fault this hotel at all. The room was spacious and comfortable and amazing features! The spa facilities were fantastic and the staff were all absolutely superb!!! Breakfast and evening meal were great, drinks great, live singer on! The best hotel I’ve been to for this price by far, I will definitely be returning! Just WOW!
Really clean and comfortable decoration. Very easy key collection and excellent communication with the host.
The back room was really nice and quiet with great curtains.
Just a short walk from Heswall restaurants or the Wirral Way.
We really appreciate places that allow us yo bring our well behaved dog. He had a great time!
Check in was one of the smoothest check ins we have ever had with Air B n B. The apartment was nicely decorated and made you feel very much at home.... Lovely fully equipped kitchen. Lovely big windows and the fact that there was a car park, made things a lot easier. Just 5 mins. walk from the quaint village of Heswall.
Very helpful & courteous staff. Dog friendly so the grounds were excellent for walking. Peaceful and a handy location for Heswall,Liverpool and North Wales. Stayed in the one room Gatehouse Annex which was comfortable. A little piece of history and it is what it says it is.
Nice hotel, expensive for what it is in comparison to others I’ve stayed at. Rooms are very average, spa is nice but a bit dated and hot tubs are luke warm
At best. The best part of the hotel was the staff who were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you.
Lovely cottage to stay in fabulous location and beautiful gardens lovely staff close to heswall with lots of shops and restaurants
Facilities good but could have done with a washing machine
Beds really comfortable
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was fabulous. The location of the hotel is perfect for easy access to the shops and restaurants so couldn't fault it
