The hotel was warm and welcoming. The staff were all lovely. Our room was fabulous with a huge bed, a comfortable seating area and a little outside terrace overlooking the beck. Even though it was busy with functions during the day we never had a problem parking (and there is an overflow car park just over the road). We liked the little extra touches like cakes available from reception during the day if we wanted them and the little bottles of milk in the fridge for our coffees. Food in the restaurant was really good as was the breakfast.
Fantastic location for getting into the dales. I came with my 2 children and 2 dogs. My children really liked the chocolate station a very good touch. I enjoyed the sweats. Local shop chip shop and pub were all very welcoming. Balsamini's Pizzeria are amazing. And the black horse does a cracking burger.

I liked the calm , peaceful and friendly atmosphere in the village 😊. Everyone says hello and mean it, they stop and chat with you and genuinely want to know how you're doing. It's a very lovely place 😊. The Black horse pub serves good burgers and generous portion of chunky chips.

Stayed here to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks as we couldn’t get in anywhere closer. It was only about 20 minutes away though so not too bad. We are at the pub both dinner and breakfast both of which were lovely

A small place for an overnight stay, village atmosphere with limited shops. Main traction is the railway station: Grade ll listed with regular services to the famed Settle and Carlisle route, and steam trains on the main line. The original buffet/waiting room is renovated and privately operated providing from Tuesday - Saturday (and Sundays if steam trains running) meals and drinks; the place is popular with walkers, train enthusiasts and locals who walk up from the village for tea, coffee and gossip. I once drove up 300 miles from the south to breakfast at Hellifield station!

Good location.
Good location. Was doing 3 Peaks walk next day and this was the nearest and cheapest single room at short notice. The full English Breakfast was just what was neede for a long walk. I even did a short pleasant stroll the evening I was there.
