FAQs about hotels in Harrogate

Sophisticated Victorian Spa Town

The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.

The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.

One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.

Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

Well set out town with pedestrianised area and plenty of green space - The Stray and Valley Gardens. Good selection of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Easy access to beautiful and varied countryside. There is also a railway and bus station in the town.

A great northern town filled with shops and places to eat and drink. Lots of independent shops and plenty of the retail chains too. Many good bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Betty's is a must, we went at about 10:30am and got in without having queue. Harrogate is a place for the well heeled, I have never seen so many Porsches per square mile anywhere else in the UK.

Harrogate is the place where people, from Yorkshire, go to...

Harrogate is the place where people, from Yorkshire, go to have a short stay. If the locals go there, you know its going to be great. Of course you have your usual tourist traps, and visiting areas, but if you look around you can, easily find fantastic micro breweries, eateries, galleries, and shops to browse. Everything is a short walk away You cannot fail, to notice how clean tidy, and well managed Harrogate is, and its a credit to all who are involved in this thankless and forgotten task. Everyone is Friendly and chatty, when not busy. Wide selection of shops Regular train and bus service, lots taxis as well All the other Villages as cities, are indeed less than an hour by train, in most cases. also a walkers, and cyclists paradise. We recommend you use the smaller coffee and tea shops, because the tea and coffee pots are bigger, as are the super sized scones with jam and cream, or cake slices, and home made sandwiches, certain other outlets are not quite so generous, lets say, make you que for nearly an hour, charge 3 times as much, rush you out the door, and frankly, are there through novelty rather than value for money! However if you have never been, to these local tourist traps, the experience is what you are paying for, of course. Absolutely loads of eateries, all average priced, but search around and you can find some decent food a little cheaper but without the loss of quality, and indeed quantity, best to eat at normal home tea times, we watched people being turned away because the places we ate in, filled up or got booked fast.

Lovely small spa town in North Yorkshire which maintains some of its regency charm. There are still independent and characterful shops. Lots of green parks & gardens, plenty of good restaurants/eateries of all types and levels, including the famous Betty's. Similarly good hotels. guest houses & rental accommodations. RHS Harlow Carr 1 mile out of town is superb any time off year and has a lovely Betty's Tea Room. (access before garden entry) . Easy access to lots of other places or quick train to York.

The location in central Harrogate is excellent for the Royal Hall and the International Conference Centre. The room was spotless and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was available at the Camberley Hotel next door and was delicious. The little things made a big difference eg the quiet bathroom extractor fan and the double glazing on the windows. The curtains were thick and cut out the light completely. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Everything was great - the property itself, the hosts, the room and facilities were all as hoped. The preordered breakfast was so tasty - high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The location was ideal, a short walk to the centre and where I needed to be for a few days in Harrogate with work. I found this hotel by chance and aim to return as soon as I have the chance.
