Holly Tree Hotel, Swimming Pool & Hot Tub, hotel in Glencoe

Stunningly situated by the sea, this stylish hotel offers chic accommodations, facilities and dining.

Easy to find and close to the Glenfinnan and Glencoe areas and attractions of the West Highlands which accounts for the cost of the rooms. The hotel sits on Loch Linnhe and provides a gorgeous view of the highlands and Ben Nevis. There’s a working boat slip that is not busy. There’s a green space for the dogs to run. Lots of parking. There is a pool, but we didn’t use it. The hotel is very family-oriented and we don’t have kids so we left the pool to the families. We stayed in the Captain's King Room with Sea View. It was large with king bed, two comfortable chairs, a coffee table, desk, and night stands. The balcony included a table and chairs and overlooked the loch—excellent view. The bathroom was large with a tub and separate shower and a big shelf for our personal toiletries. No robes provided. A kettle was provided along with teas and instant coffee and biscuits. They don’t provide a daily housekeeping service but did upon requested. Though there was a large crowd enjoying the outdoor seating below us at the bar, when we closed the sliding door to the balcony we couldn’t hear the other guests at all—the sound proofing for the hotel was that good! The restaurant was large as well as the bar. The bar also had outdoor seating. The included breakfast was a buffet of cold cereals and Scottish breakfast which allowed us to pick and chose from the Scottish breakfast instead of being given the whole huge thing! The staff in the hotel and restaurant very friendly and attentive.

Glencoe is outstanding to visit. Many walks, many views.

Glencoe is outstanding to visit. Many walks, many views. We spent £17.50 each on the chairlift up the Glencoe mountain. All other walks, views, attractions we attended were free. I was fascinated by the history. The Glencoe massacre. Water, mountains, woodlands. There is nothing to not like. We went to Steall Waterfall, Three Sisters, Glencoe mountain resort, visitor centre, Glencoe monument and stopped at numerous viewpoints everywhere.

We spent 2 days in Glen Coe, in the heart of the mountains, outside of Fort William. Arriving from the south we had a fabulous drive through the height of the mountains, and enjoyed the Glen Coe visitor center for their historical displays, gift shop and recommendations re local hiking trails, and places to eat. We appreciated that this is a very undeveloped, yet stunningly beautiful area with just the right amount of places to see and enjoy for a 2 day stay if you like an leisurely experience re all that an area has to offer. Just beyond the area, be sure to take the Gondola ride to the top of Ben Nevis, Scotland's highest mountain. There is a good cafe at the top to take in the views, see mountain bikers ride the trails and take a walk on nearby paths.

After a really friendly personal welcome from Tony and Mairi...

After a really friendly personal welcome from Tony and Mairi, we settled into what is a luxurious studio, with great thought given to its design and decoration. The bathroom was amazing with an enormous rolltop bath as well as a very efficient shower. It was a cosy spot for the two of us and well equipped for a couple. It only rained occasionally, so we were able to enjoy the glorious view over a coffee outside on the terrace. We felt spoiled with the choice of possible hot drinks and chocolates placed around (there’s a nespresso machine and cafetière). The studio was spotlessly clean. We eat in at nights with the help of the microwave (there are rings to cook on too) only because I was too tired ! But we followed up our hosts’ recommendation of The View at Stalker Castle for a very nice coffee, soup and salad in a great spot down the coast a bit. Really though, loads of places to eat about, including the hotels 20-30 mins walk away via the cycle track. Another reason to return!

We stopped at Glencoe on the way back from the islands.

We stopped at Glencoe on the way back from the islands. As non-climbers, 24 hours was perfect to stop by the visitor centre and take in the views. The vistas are truly stunning and the national trust visitor centre is terrific - we had a lovely coffee there. It’s the most touristy place we visited on our trip, so I was glad our visit was relatively brief—but it really is a must see.

We stayed in Beach House 3 for two nights and it was far too short. Plenty of space with huge picture windows and a well equipped kitchen. The view and the facilities were phenomenal. Hot tub sunsets and then star gazing with dark skies. We could not recommend this enough and we will definitely try to return.

We loved everything about his property. Firstly, the view is perfect and there is space to sit outside and enjoy it. The inside is very well laid out and is very clean and comfortable. The accommodation has a five star hotel feel about it. Quality fittings, great bed, crisp white bedding, great coffee machine, luxury soaps etc, beautiful bath and fab shower and lots of lovely sweet treats. The host met us with the keys and made some recommendations on things to do and restaurants, a very warm welcome.

Nice hotel with a great restaurant and pretty views of the lochs surrounding it. The rooms was clean and spacious and was on par with the quality you’d expect for the price. We would definitely come stay again if we find ourselves in the Glencoe area. The location was easy to find and had ample parking as well. Being based near Glencoe also offered all the access to walks that Fort William does, but does so in a quieter, more tranquil setting.

A very special hotel, truly a unique experience, as it is a renovated castle / mansion with only 5 huge suites and breakfast / dinner is served directly to your room. Staff is very friendly and helpful (activities, tips etc) The view onto the lake and the surrounding gardens are spectacular! Truly a place to come and disconnect, indulge in the beautiful nature around the hotel and enjoy a very special couple of days.

Excellent setting for a hotel. Beautiful scenery and walking trails. Best hotel so far for staying around Glencoe. It was a bit pricey but the pool helps and the bathtub was perfect to relax after a drive and a winter walk. Breakfast was good. Restaurant was full with outside people which means the food is decent. Outside my budget but there was a nice coop round the corner. A big plus.

Stunning property and extremely cosy. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and the amenities of the house (comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and soaps, hot tub, ample coffee and teas). Great location to Glencoe. Tony was very friendly and met us when we arrived to show us the property. We would definitely recommend the stay for a couple in this romantic, modern, chalet! !
