My visit was for family business, and we used the time to visit the local area, including Canterbury and Rochester, as well as walking around Gillingham.
A little frustrated as Chatham Dockyard was closed to visitors. The Engineering Museum which is within walking distance was also closed on Monday, the only day we had free to visit.
If visiting Canterbury with your car, BE WARNED, Car Parking is expensive, and the Park & Ride facilities are NOT clearly marked. In fact one of the Park & Ride Car Parks has closed, and the local Tourist Info were unaware.
Well worth a visit to Canterbury to see the Cathedral, which has an entry free of £17 per person, but this is for unlimited visits for a year.
However, DO GO TO ROCHESTER.
Rochester is a wonderful City to visit. It also has a Cathedral, which has FREE entry, however you are encouraged to make a donation, and if you are able to do Gift Aid, then a cash donation in an envelope with all your details will enable the Cathedral to claim more money.
Rochester also has a Castle - again, a wonderful visit, and entry including audio tapes (highly recommended) was £5.70 (concessions) The castle however is only for able bodied, as there are over 200 steps to climb. Well worth the climb though for the views.
Free Guildhall Museum to visit, which again is a delight.
And car parking!!! We parked in the "Short Stay" car park near the Cathedral and it was the huge sum of £3.70 for just under 5 hours. A Bargain, and especially comparing with Canterbury which was £3.50 PER HOUR

I found Gillingham an interesting place.
I found Gillingham an interesting place. Lots of history regarding the forces. I was amazed at the work going on re. New builds. It was very clean and friendly. There appears to be a sports theme in the area. Lots of opportunities for different sports. Yes, we would revisit.

Gillingham is a beautiful place in Medway.
Gillingham is a beautiful place in Medway. Gillingham has everything you may need with good prices to pay on hotels and amenities. The historic dockside is just a stone throw, the Medway River is just there for your convenience, the River walk will take you through the whole Medway towns. There are so much you can do as a couple, family or individually

Good location of this hotel for Chatham Dockyard where we visited the "Call the Midwife" tour and had a great time. Worth the 300 mile trip down form Yorkshire but did not see Gillingham itself.

Gillingham is a good centre for visiting Chatham (for the Dockyards), Rochester and Maidstone. The town itself has a few eateries, good supermarkets, a pedestrianised precinct and some shops. Good train links to London and the South-East. Good bus links to the surrounding area. The town itself does not boast many facilities for tourists (eg. museums etc) but is a good base.

average place ,royal artillary place worth a visit but handy for vising other places .Rochester only 7 minutes away by train.Asfar as feeling safe ,about the same as any other place you visit only had short stay so cannot comment on night life.transport good, major shops apart from asda conviniently all together
staff said they didn’t have my booking even though I had my receipt, room provided had a tiny tv when am short sighted, breakfast wasn’t cooked properly and wasn’t up too our expectations, thankfully staff moved us to a different room with a bigger tv, but £88 for one night was expensive for the comfort we received at your hotel, won’t stay there again
Very well presented, everything you need in a very comfortable, cosy open plan flat.
You can tell that the host has put a lot of money into the property. And he's done a great job.
Location was ideal for our long weekend away exploring Rochester, Gillingham and the surrounding areas.
Parking was just outside the property.. perfect.
We'll be back!
the flat was beautiful, clean, smelt great it was truly a home away from home. Lola (the host) made our stay extra special by going the extra mile for our anniversary. we were so impressed and would definitely stay again! it you’re thinking about booking just do it you will not regret it, I don’t think there’s a better flat in Kent!
We travelled with a dog. The hotel is very well organised for coping with pets. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The food was nice. There is a wonderful park/common for exercising dogs just a couple of minutes walk away. The location was excellent as a travel stopover, driving north from Dover. We would stay again.
The flat was perfect for my needs. it was clean and smelt amazing. The hosts were easy to communicate with ensured they checked up on us to see if we needed anything. Very close to Gillingham train station and lots of shops in the area. There was a snack bar and also bottles of water in the fridge. Would definitely stay again.
The hotel was beautifully decorated! I called ahead as I had wanted to check in early and the lady on reception was so helpful and changed our room so we could check in quickly and efficiently!
Rooms and hotel were clean and adequate.. Okay for a one night stay! Definitely recommend xxxx
The night porter was able to find us a room for the night at another hotel and pay for our taxi to the new hotel. The hotel did issue us a full refund but note the hotel we had to book was significantly more expensive and weren't compensated for this
This is a Fantastic family hotel, the homeowner are very friendly and support things I need.
very good price with a lovely tidy room.
100%recommendation to people who want to resist during your journey.
I will back if I have a plan to Kent again.
The apartment is a nice size and well located just off the waterfront and just a five minute walk from an Asda superstore. Chatham and Rochester are a short cycle / walk away. Canterbury and Kent coastal towns are a short car journey away.
The property was clean and modern. Everything inside was brand new. The whole apartment was comfortable and the price is suitable for the quality of the apartment. Would definitely stay here next time we visit family in Kent.
The bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean and stylish for suh a cheap price. Much better and cheaper than the budget hotels. Would recommend to anyone. Will use again.
although this hotel needs modernization and fresh in up. it was most enjoyable the food was fantastic and the free breakfast was a 10 I would definitely stay here again.
5 spacious comfortable bedrooms
