Budock Vean Hotel, hotel in Flushing

Private and luxurious, the 4-star, family-run Budock Vean offers an indoor pool, 9-hole golf course and spa.

Beautiful hotel set in large grounds. I was only staying for one night but there were loads of activities for longer stays. A very friendly, helpful lady on reception greeted me (my dog also thought she was wonderful). I had an u0graded room which was large and very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were very good.

Hotel Tresanton, hotel in Flushing

Located in Saint Mawes, 2.6 km from Cellars Beach, Hotel Tresanton provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Quirky and comfortable, plus well sized rooms. The restaurant was too pretty and convenient to walk past - we had breakfast and a couple of lunches there. Great neighbourhood for cafes and shopping, with leafy streets to walk in if you want to avoid the Portobello Road hubbub.

The Rosevine, hotel in Flushing

Around 25 minutes’ drive from Truro, The Rosevine is an elegantly styled apartment hotel on the south Cornwall coast.

This hotel is in a beautiful place, overlooking the sea and a short walk from the coastal footpath. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed (in fact rather more cushions than required!) Quite often hotels are let down by the details, but I'm happy to say that the bath towels were really large and there was a proper hair dryer not one of those horrible fixed to the wall things. The staff were friendly and attentive.

We like the area , there are some lovely walks around, through woodland and along the beaches. We used the ferry to go to Falmouth and across to St Mawes. The Standard is a great place to eat, staff are friendly too.

Flushing is very quiet compared with Falmouth, but probably better than a small village. 2 pubs and a bar/restaurant, but they don't stay open too late. Sailing club cafe looks new and is a good spot, wasn't open when we were there. Convenience store very useful. Ferry to Falmouth is great but finishes early (5pm). Great, easy walk over to Mylor Harbour, either straight over the hill (25mins) or along the shoreside path. Parking tricky but we always found space. Very relaxed village. You tend to drive everywhere if not going to Falmouth. The foreshore is quite interesting and swimming from it is possible at the right stage of the tide. The pub food is fairly limited but ok- we only ate in the Royal Standard.
