An elegant and characterful building. Its clearly going through a period of refurbishlment so parts of the building look a bit tired but look beyond that and you'll see beautiful period detailing in the bedrooms and shared spaces making it so much more interesting than some of the bland, modern chain hotels. The owners should be applauded for investing in retaining those features. My bedroom was much larger than average (though I know some are smaller) and with a large, modernised bathroom.
The terrace accessed from the bar provided superb views of the surrounding countryside.
The staff were welcoming, polite and friendly - mostly younger folk who took pride in their job which was refreshing.

If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful stay within a self-contained home-from-home, then The Lambing Shed won’t disappoint. It was well appointed and spotlessly clean, and is obviously a labour of love for the owners, who were very welcoming and affable.
The grounds and setting were delightful, and very conducive to a relaxing stay. We used The Lambing Shed as our base whilst exploring the local area, with Bude, Tintagel and the North coast not far away, and The Eden Project to the South only a 40-minute drive.
Before arrival, the owners provided plenty of useful information, including the best route to get there. I recommend adhering to their directions – The Lambing Shed is in a quiet location, part of its charm, and can be approached from two directions, both narrow / single track roads as you near the locale. Following instruction, coming in from the direction of the Rising Sun Inn (about 1 mile away, East of the Lambing Shed) the roads are narrow, but manageable. Coming in from the West to The Lambing Shed, as forewarned, is an experience, especially in a modern SUV – at points you wonder whether the road is actually too narrow for your car. During our stay we tried this adventurous route, more due to following the SatNav than reckless abandon, and were very glad not to meet any oncoming traffic along the way, and relieved once it was over.
The team of robot gardeners on the grounds also kept us more amused than they perhaps should. They did a grand job.
We only had two full days there. Unfortunately it poured with rain and was cold and windy on the first day so we stayed in. Went to the Archer Arms at Lewannick where we enjoyed some very good food. Went to Tintagel the next day after trying to get to Port Isaac but couldn’t get parked! Shame the local attractions were closed due to the virus. Overall, the weather spoilt it and we didn’t really have chance to see too much.
