What a find! This stunning place started out as a manor house in the 1600s (we asked!) and hascretained it's charm. We had a fabulous room/studio in what had been the old stable block. It was immaculately done out, spacious and comfortable. Comfy bed, lovely sitting room area, bathroom with toiletries, hospitality tray. Couldn't ask for more! Freshly cooked breakfast, veggie for me, full English for t'other 'alf topped off a perfect stay. Such friendly hosts, too. We'll definitely be back!

I thought the breakfast was very good (vegetarian) and it was all made/delivered very promptly. I was pleased that I wasn't expected to be too early for breakfast!!! I appreciated the flexibility of not having to give a firm arrival time (as I wasn't sure when booking). I also appreciated the central heating being on (even thought it was May .... ) as it had rained heavily and, outside, it felt damp. The offer of being given local recommendations to eat was also welcomed, even though I didn't need it. Fresh milk in the room was great.

The lodge really has the wow factor. We stayed here for two nights - I stayed the night before my wedding and I couldn’t wish for better. The decor and facilities are incredible and the views from each window are dreamy. I was greeted from a member of staff who showed me around, was very friendly. The group are already talking about when to book again. Thanks for a very special stay, we would recommend you to anyone.

Visiting family town center is a bit rundown but where isn’t now days? Lots of big shops local restaurants pubs to explore found it a good place to center yourself for trips to Hadrians wall Newcastle Sunderland all short drives.

The heating was not working at all thought out my stay no hot water to bath or shower and no central heating. Fill in form complaints from the hosts but never had no reply ???? needs to be one of the most important
things of the stay had to go out to keep warm as the weekend I stayed there was freezing then had to go to bed to keep warm in the house but nobody has contacted me about the matter

It is in a pretty part of the world. About a five minute walk for the house in Shotley Bridge is a Restaurant "Sale &Pepe" basically Italian but with other cuisine as well. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much we went two days in a row.

The room was ok but it had a few things that didn't work the way they should have. Dinner and breakfast needed more staff. This could have been to Covid issue but one or two more staff would have been helpful to all.

This accommodation is in Castleside, which is just outside Consett.
The countryside around the village of Castleside is beautiful. Consett is post industrial, not the prettiest town on the planet, but what you would expect from a history of Iron and coal mining in the North Pennines.
The county of Durham has a wealth of history and great places to visit - so go and visit it all, the not so good balanced with beauty!
The location was blissfully quiet, surrounded by countryside. The room and ensuite was clean and beautifully appointed with a massive superking bed. Had a late lunch in the Antler Bar and Terrace, the fish and chips were fantastic with whisper-light batter. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I stayed here for convenience for an event in Consett, but will definitely return for a proper break here to take advantage of the location and health facilities I didn't wasn't able to this time.
The location just outside Consett is very nice and there are many animals nearby. Our room was clean, comfortably furnished and had a very large, comfortable bed. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired and is amply sized if you want. There is also plenty to do for families with children, e.g. a petting corner, alpacas, donkey etc. We give *****.
Nice quiet location with easy access to Consett and beyond, nice spacious accommodation with everything u needed, the kitchen had all the home comforts of washing machine, dishwasher etc, plenty of room for 4 people also penty of parking on the road
Stunning hotel with stunning views across the countryside, room permitting. The food in the restaurant and breakfast were very good with generous portions on each. My room was large and very well equipped for a business traveller.
Location was relaxing and peaceful, room was of a good size with a good outlook over the countryside. Design and decor looked good for the type of hotel. Staff were friendly and attentive and they are an asset to the hotel.
Beautiful hotel, great location with everything on site and friendly helpful staff. rooms were clean and comfortable and a good value. Weird decor in penthouse. Skull by the bed? What's that about?
The staff were delightful, really friendly and chatty and helpful. We felt very welcome, there was convenient storage for our bikes and the room was spacious and the shower was powerful.
The breakfast was excellent for taste and choice. The location is great as a base for this lovely area. Catherine was very helpful with the timing of our visit.
